If true, at least that would explain much of the lethargic play. It's one thing when a team just outplays another team - we all know somedays you just have "it". It's another when you feel your team gets outhustled and the effort is not 100%.

Handing out prescriptions of Tamiflu all last week. I don’t have a clue if any of the players were sick. In fact, I don’t really care one way of the other. Just pointing out that there has been a recent outbreak in the area
My wife just had a 61 yearold relative who was a hard worker and no health problems. Day after Thanksgiving he check into ER with what he thought was bad flu.

Diagnosed with Covid Pneumonia. He soon went on vent and died last night.

Friend of mine lost his 42 year old wife to pneumonia from the flu last year. Happens fast if it hits you right. Sick on a Tuesday and brain dead by Thursday afternoon. Any virus is no joke. People dismiss the complications.

Not to pile on, but I just went thru my 3rd battle with Covid. Started feeling like crap the Saturday before Thanksgiving. Didn’t feel much better until the Saturday after. It was a horrible week of bed and couch with all kinds of symptoms that were far worse than the first 2 combined. It’s still out there and it’s no joke.

Are you up to date on your vaccinations?

Disability lawyer here. Post COVID syndrome cases aren't exactly rare these days. Young people who survived the vent that now need O2, IE.

Last week the symptoms for this one poor client were all neurological. Spent a week in the hospital w a moderate case of COVID and within 6 months needs a walker to ambulate. She's 32 w no Hx.

3 or 4 guys were supposedly not going to play Saturday. News reports prior to the game stated that MR, KW and another key player were listed as "questionable". I don't remember the reports saying why though. Then MR and KW started and I completely forgot about it. This may explain the "questionable" tag.

Out of curiosity, was her covid stay 6 months ago or was it part of the original outbreak?

I hope one of the others was Gunn because his play in the first half rewatching the game was like he had a couple dimes on the Auburn cover. It was, put a walk on in the game, bad.

Reneau had zero energy on D and blocking out rebounding which led to the two huge put back dunks by Auburn. He also spent a lot of time standing straight up and walking around on D.

Why has Reneau assumed the assigned Race role of being the donkey that always has to take the ball out after a made bucket?

Seems dumb as hell to me.

Ware seemed to be on a high dose of NyQuil. Twice he ran down court after a made free throw when there was another free throw coming....very strange.

While I'm pointing shit out that grinds my gears, Pearl standing on the three point line near his bench directing his defense for 10-15 secs while IU was on offense on that side of the court was a move that should have garnered a sideline warning or a T.

I guess we can see how Auburn performs in their next game. Flu incubation is typically 2-3 days. Of course, even if our guys had flu it doesn’t necessarily mean they passed it on to anyone from Auburn. Found out someone at thanksgiving dinner had flu (and still had fever) but no one else got sick from it that I’m aware of.

The last time IU gave up 100 points in regulation was the S16 loss to Carolina in 2016- the eventual national champion.

It would be helpful to find out there was a reason why Mgbako and Reneau elected to not rebound or play defense. (I figure Gunn has been persecuted enough already).

Think Michael Jordan Game 5 of 97 finals. Maybe it was food poisoning and not flu but in any event he was very sick.

I watched the Kansas Mizzou game and Kansas is just not that good at this point in the season. They look a lot more purposeful then our sometimes random appearing flailings but at least against Mizzou they didn’t look all that good.

It's true the team has the flu Flat Lethargic Unmotivated.

Chatted with my Dr Niece quite a bit over Tgiving about it. The serious cases are more rare these days but vaxx is still the way to go for any age but esp for those over 50.

Mgbako's effort/intensity on defense against Auburn was good and continues to improve every game.

His anticipation and recognition on D also continues to improve, although at times can be a step or two behind the action which leads me to believe his learning curve is steep as he progresses.

All the IU players tend to ball watch blocking out so Mgbako doesn't stand out there good or bad.

In summary, I believe the narrative that MM's effort/intensity is lacking in these recent games on the defensive end is false.

I mean, on two occasions against Auburn, he was so up in the grill of the offensive player he took elbows to the face.

In Assembly Hall, one of those elbows to the face is likely ruled a flagrant.

Yeah, I was shocked that the first one stood as a foul on MM... looked somewhat intentional to me the way the guy swung his elbow to clear space. Another of the things that made it feel more like a home game for Auburn. Pep band, cheerleaders, Auburn-friendly announcer, and seemingly home-cookin' calls.

He was burned on a couple of putbacks where he didn't block out at all, and at least one of the after-TO inbounds plays that Pearl drew up targeted him. But for the most part he seems a little less lost on D. What killed us from him were his back-to-back turnovers on offense that directed led to Auburn transition baskets in the middle of their big 1st half run. One was a post entry pass to Ware that had no chance whatsoever.

I visited my mother-in-law in Indy's St Francis Hospital yesterday. Nurse said there is an uptick in Covid infections. Visitors had to wear masks, gloves and gowns.
Yep. I can concur. I had Covid over the week of Thanksgiving and I know two other people in my circle with whom I didn't interract who also had Covid in the last few weeks, so it seems to be going around. At least in Indy.

Nothing like spending t-giving quarantined, but at least I was brought 3 different thanksgiving dinners from well-meaning souls that I couldn't really taste. LOL

EDIT: Cleaned up some butchered grammar

A friend of mine said he had cold symptoms and lost taste and smell but took several covid tests during that time and all were negative.

The shrieking howler monkey PA guy went both ways but had more to shriek about with Aub.

So glad we didn’t go to an act like that in TAH

I've never believed the testing was 100%, or even close. I know lots of people who had multiple symptoms that have tested negatively, but all the symptoms seemed to fit.

Yes super annoying. Even the announcer we have pushes it. "Renoooooo for twoooooo" wears thin very quickly.

Yeah I hear you but we needed to uptick a bit from CC and JG does a nice job on the mic along with 200 other things in Btown.
