Rourke’s Thumb

Tayven might be the QB next year, but for now there is a significant gap between Roarke and Tayven. That showed today - Roarke’s processing, decision making, accuracy, and ability to throw a very catchable ball were all on high display today.

Rourke's QB IQ is incredible. I know we have a phenomenal QB coach, but the kid is also super talented to see things at the level he does. He strikes me as a late 1st - mid 2nd round pick in the draft in April with the way he's playing. He's got a great future ahead of him.

It's almost like he has the QB IQ of Manning or Brady....I'm serious. How that translates to the NFL, is anyone's guess.

I was watching him before the game when he was playing catch with Tayven. A lot of times there will be a guy standing beside the QB catching the return pass and handing it to the QB. That wasn’t happening. Rourke was catching Jackson’s passes with no issues. That told me his thumb was fine.

In the post game interview Rourke says he had 'things before the game' to minimize the pain and he chuckled when he said it, so I assume what that means. Also said it hurt every throw but he expected it and knew he could play through it. Said it was swollen harming his grip a bit, so the glove helped with the grip.

Put to rest my idea it was just a 'hairline' crack, as he said he thought when it happened since it was bleeding it was only the nail. Then says "when it broke" the "bone pushed the nail" . OUCH! If a crack only must have still had some movement to it.

Tough young man. Kudos to the surgeon and medical team! Amazing.
