Rob - Get well soon.

I don't disagree with that, my point is DG COULD play a better PG if wanted/tried to. It's not theoretical physics. He's played basketball his entire life. He's a could ball handler. He can pass-makes excellent entries into the post. The problem is he'd RATHER score the ball himself. That's a choice. Not an imminent inability.

I don't disagree...he's got a brother playing in the NBA...one would think he might want a professional career...and PG would appear to be his only NBA opportunity. (Disclaimer: I don't watch the NBA.)

Our best lineup had Green in it? What other option you got?

Going into the game last night the Assembly Call mentioned that the teams defensive efficiency was in the low .80's with Green and a little over 1 without him.

I don't know if that's lineup based (which is what I prefer) or straight game based (which is open to much more interpretation if so, like an individuals plus minus stat).

That being said, he's very physical and very quick and that has made life hard for perimeter guards.

Compare that to Al who gets bumped off screens pretty easily and seems to be constantly chasing because of it.

I like Al's potential defensively, but he needs even more bulk. Thick and quick is a really good defensive combination and Green has that (as does Rob. They say Rob is surprisingly thick and stout and doesn't get bumped off easily).

Anyway, it was no surprise in the second half when Al went out early with his third foul that we were pretty damn awesome defensively. We had a record six shot clock violations. Most with a lineup of Green, Romeo, McBob, Smith and Morgan.

Anyway, last night didn't hurt Green's defensive numbers, at all.

Going to be ugly interesting watching him and Simpson go against each other. Both are challenged offensively but both are thick and quick defensively.

I think we're f*cked anyway. However, if RP could have played Sunday, it would have been more competitive. DG was very hard to watch last night, but then again, he usually is.
Yeah, beginning Sunday our season is going to take a drastic turn. The next 6 games are B-R-U-T-A-L. 3-3 would be an outstanding result from this stretch.

Green is trying to play up to his brother's NBA footsteps. He needs to take a humble pill and play within himself and within his own more realistic ability. He needs to play in your face D, hit catch and shoot 3 point shots, make fundamental passes, and not attempt to make a play that he does not have the talent to finish. He needs to be Indiana Green 0 TO, and leave the Brooklyn Green 4 TO, 3 airballs, buried in the past. Brooklyn Green is just not very good.

4 turnovers seems awfully generous. The 3 air balls he shot on cute, flip the ball, layups ought to count as TO and missed FG!
Green thinks he is better than he actually is. These plays are a result of his body not having the talent to finish a play that his ego and brain says he can do.

Yes. As a point guard, he makes things harder than they have to be. His most frustrating point for me is the continual dribbling and poor initiation of the offense. We lose half the shot-clock and then begin scrambling to throw up anything. Simple fundamentals is all we need, which Rob does very well. I do believe Green has value off the bench as a shooter and play-maker. He is exciting and productive in short-term moments.
Off the bench Green is like our Vinnie Johnson (if you remember the Pistons of the late 80's) They called Vinnie the Microwave because he was instant offense.

Catch and Shoot 3s and play solid D. That's Green's role.

If he plays in a three guard set as the three he doesn't need to shoot unless he has the open lane. He is out there for defense.

Mentally, I just wonder if the responsibilites of the PG spot are messing with his entire offensive game. Who knows, maybe it is the other way around. When he is shooting bad he tries to do to much to make up for it.

I think in the 3 guard rotation, Romeo is more the SF of that trio. I meant the 3 as a 3 point shooter not a SF. Maybe that is more of an NBA thing but I think DG can shoot. Right now Romeo is struggling more his 3 point shot. Maybe simplify the game for him with a lesser offensive role would help him focus better.

Whatever role Archie finds for him on the offensive side, I hope he finds one. He really does help the defense.

You know, I hate to admit it, but I actually wished he had transferred over the summer for a minute there during tonight's game. Absolutely clueless as a PG. & he was "so improved" this off-season. At what??
If you are referring to DG, his strength is shooting off of a pass. The moment he has the ball and steps back for a 3 you might as well get ready for a rebound. But off the pass in rhythm he can be money.

Let's be kind and just say it's a difficult shot to master and Green is one of those who hasn't mastered it, yet.

Then he sure as hell SHOULDN'T have been attempting the shot. You DON'T try to make plays that you haven't developed during the off season or practice. Shows a complete lack of judgment on his part.
