This was one of those games you just have to get through. I liked how Romeo took over at the start of the second half. He set the stage for us to have a double digit lead. I didn't see the first half because I had a board meeting. But I did see the tip by Justin to close the half. Good win. Go IU!!Quickly!!!! So frustrating.
No shit. We're suffering without him. So sloppy & careless with the ball, so hard to watch, & so frustrating--because it's 100% brains, & 0% physical ability(taking care of & being responsible with the basketball, I'm speaking of).Quickly!!!! So frustrating.
You know, I hate to admit it, but I actually wished he had transferred over the summer for a minute there during tonight's game. Absolutely clueless as a PG. & he was "so improved" this off-season. At what??Romeo should play PG if Rob cant play.
Hopefully Devonte Green wants to play his last year closer to home.
i hope franklin comes ready to play. this team needs guards badly.Quickly!!!! So frustrating.
Yes. As a point guard, he makes things harder than they have to be. His most frustrating point for me is the continual dribbling and poor initiation of the offense. We lose half the shot-clock and then begin scrambling to throw up anything. Simple fundamentals is all we need, which Rob does very well. I do believe Green has value off the bench as a shooter and play-maker. He is exciting and productive in short-term moments.4 turnovers seems awfully generous. The 3 air balls he shot on cute, flip the ball, layups ought to count as TO and missed FG!
He either, isn't capable of playing PG mentally, or isn't willing(well, I suppose it could be both), because he sure as hell is physically capable of playing PG as well as he wants to. He has more physical ability & talent than Phinisee does, although Rob's strength & ability to get to the basket is a remarkable physical skill worth noting for a player his size.Yes. The one shot of Green's fell about 3 feet short. As if that wasn't bad enough, he shot the "teardrop" from only about 6' out. One could watch a full weekend of games on any playground and not see a shot that poorly executed. Let's be kind and just say it's a difficult shot to master and Green is one of those who hasn't mastered it, yet.4 turnovers seems awfully generous. The gold jersey doesn't translate to the floor!Quickly!!!! So frustrating.

We are getting ready to go on the road, I'm telling you we are f*cked if he's our point guard.Romeo at PG is a better option than DG. We won't win many more games with DG at PG. 3-11 from field, 3 assists, 4 TO's.
Rob get well soon.No shit. We're suffering without him. So sloppy & careless with the ball, so hard to watch, & so frustrating--because it's 100% brains, & 0% physical ability(taking care of & being responsible with the basketball, I'm speaking of).
Right ... it's always bitch moan, bitch moan, about something Win = bitch moan complain. 12-2 = bitch moan complain. 3-0 = bitch moan complain. Our defensive ppp is almost .30 lower with Green than without.
That's gigantic.
Yeah let's hope he transfers so we can be perpetually young while playing a packline defense.
Everyone knows that the best offensive lines in football are the ones that constantly have rookies.
That being said he definitely struggled offensively tonight, no doubt.
He didn't force like he normally does which was good in an off night.
He played really well defensively.
Our best lineups had Green in them tonight even with the offensive struggles, but let's hope he transfers.
Dumb

Bunch of pussies and serial malcontents.
Hell, there are posters on the premium board right now blaming "the liberals" for Rob still being in concussion protocol.Right ... it's always bitch moan, bitch moan, about something Win = bitch moan complain. 12-2 = bitch moan complain. 3-0 = bitch moan complain.

Our best lineup had Green in it? What other option you got?Our defensive ppp is almost .30 lower with Green than without.

I think the issue is that he's not a point guard because he doesn't care to be a point guard. Not that he can't be one.The issue is he isn’t a point guard and isn’t overly talented. He was a low rated 3 star recruit for a reason. He is a really good on the ball defender and can be an asset coming off the bench. Rob is the only point guard on the team and every other guard, including Romeo, struggle to bring the ball up the court.
I do not want Green to transfer. I have always thought his best role was off the ball as a 3 and D player. I think he would thrive in a starting lineup with Rob and Romeo but injuries haven't allowed them to play that trio together much. Obviously his shooting last night didn't promote that idea either but I think his overall offensive game including his shooting will struggle when he has to be the decision maker on a consistant basis. Maybe he will figure it out by next year but him running the team should be tabled, IMO, for now. I'd rather Romeo and even Morgan be the guys initiating the offense when RP is out.

Well until Rob is back healthy, Green will be handling the ball a lot. Once Rob is back, Devonte needs to find his role and accept it. Justin Smith struggled early on to find his role, but he is now doing what the team needs of him. Devonte will have to do the same. I'm just not sure Devonte can limit himself to a small role. I hope I'm wrong. He just goes freelance at any given moment.

except when he turns it over. then there is no defense. seems every time he throws it to the other team he drops his head and quits playing while everyone else races down the court. If he plays in a three guard set as the three he doesn't need to shoot unless he has the open lane. He is out there for defense.
agree. now i feel like we need a backup point guard next season. if brooks decides for another school i wonder if anyone good enough is available. perhaps a grad transfer is the way to go. love green's defense but my heart rate goes up everytime he handles the ballHe's not a pg...he won't help with what ails us.
Tru dat, good point. & again--mental skills & talents.And maturity...kid is a freshman.
I don't disagree with that, my point is DG COULD play a better PG if wanted/tried to. It's not theoretical physics. He's played basketball his entire life. He's a good ball handler. He can pass-makes excellent post entries. The problem is he'd RATHER score the ball himself. That's a choice. Not an imminent inability. That’s where we part ways. DG is playing point guard out of necessity and is shooting/combo guard. It’s Crean’s last shit sandwich for Indiana fans. Forgetting to recruit a point guard his last 5 years (including Durham’s class) at Indiana.
I think we're f*cked anyway. However, if RP could have played Sunday, it would have been more competitive. DG was very hard to watch last night, but then again, he usually is.We are getting ready to go on the road, I'm telling you we are f*cked if he's our point guard.
