Report... A.Luck is retiring. .

HAHA for anyone dumb enough to draft him in fantasy. Hopefully dude gets some help. Sounds like he's dealing with some mental/emotional issues. A little therapy could help him get back on track. This would be a good time for the NFL to step up and help a player dealing with psychological issues. Too many people never get the help they need for various reasons.

Irsay, Grigson and to a lesser degree, Pagano ruined the guy by running him out there behind a horrible O line for all those games and playing him hurt for most a season.

I guess he is shit out of luck!

I respect Luck and feel terrible for him. But yikes. Colts fans loudly booed Luck as he left the field tonight. Nothing is as classless as that.

Tank for Tua?

I just selected him as my keeper last night.

Thank God the deadline isn't until Monday.

Yeah, I don't like the fans booing him either, and at first blush it's a dick move but lets be honest here.

Number one, the stadium was about 1/3 full at that time and it certainly wasn't even half of the remaining booing. It seemed to me to be an audible but small 10 percent or so. It's not surprising that they were heard above a fairly shocked and subdued remaining 90%.

Number two and more importantly of those fans who did boo, they didn't come to the game with the knowledge that he was retiring. Many of those folks there are season ticket holders and most are invested of their time and their money. To get THAT kind of news at THAT kind of moment is jarring to say the least. They didn't have time to let that level of shocking news sink in, come to grips with it and respond accordingly.

To me, it was a knee jerk reaction and while I hate to see it (for Andrew's sake) I see it for what it actually is and can't hold that against them.

I think booing him individually is classless too ... but still think its a “wuss move” by Luck to announce at this time. I don’t wish him any harm ... but if its truly “mentally worn dealing with injuries” then head on out and not really interested in watching him on the sidelines.

His teammates deserved better than that if that is the case ... I’m just part of the school of thought that when you make a commitment you see it through unless it is out of your control to do so. But then again ... I’m an asshole ... (couldn’t resist goat).

It makes you wonder when he made this decision. If he had known for some time perhaps the Colts would have drafted a quarterback or gotten a better one in free agency.

He told the Colts 2 weeks ago he was considering retiring. I think the calf/ankle injury is more than a high ankle sprain and he thinks it is something more chronic.

Anybody know how much money is owed (guaranteed) to Luck?
Net worth is 40 million according to the web.?
I don't mind if he retires. It's his choice.

I agree with what you said. It goes beyond that too. Everyone in management that knew his decision and waited to announce it should own up to the mistake. Whoever leaked the story should be fired or banned from the team. Disgraceful in the way it was handled.

I feel bad Luck was booed. The fans learned of his retirement while watching him joking on the sideline after being lied to abut his return. Fans weren't booing Luck alone. They were booing the organization and showing their disappointment. If the announcement had been made Friday, he would have received a standing ovation as he came onto the field (assuming he had done so).
I wait to see what dumb thing this coked-up owner does next.

Damn, the curse of the deflategate liars carries some weight. Too bad to see Luck caught up in it as collateral damage. But Irsay.... that scumbag deserves every bad thing coming his way.

Piss off. Your gloating is absolutely not needed at this time. Irsay and the Colts didn’t suspend Brady. All they did was report their concerns to the league office. Grow up.

not sure they were booing just Luck specifically, but also the Colt's organization, Irsay, and the way the Colts, and Luck, handled the whole thing.

if you bought season tics thinking Luck was gonna play and Colts would be contenders, how do you not feel like you got played once again.

on a side note, bout time for Jimmy to hit up the city for another billion and a half in welfare payments to support his lifestyle.

on another side note, anyone know how much Jimmy will make on the IU-BSU game saturday.

Fans and taxpayers get screwed and played in the sports world 100% of the time, every minute, every day.

Remember when the Colts had a chance for an undefeated season, and Polian "rested the starters"? Fans didn't like it. Players didn't like it. Coaches didn't like it. Only Polian and Mercury Morris liked it.

Oh, and Polian's strategy (to increase odds of winning the SuperBowl) failed that year too. All others got screwed all the way around.

Jacoby is a classy young man with tons of talent. I have known him since he was 8 and joined my son's cub scout troup. He's one Colt I will never root against, unless he's playing the Patriots.

Hopefully he will play well enough to get a second contract, with a better organization and a sober non-crazy owner. He is an UFA next year, IIRC.

Yeah, yeah we know.

You think the Colts should have an owner with the ethics of, what, Robert Kraft, right?

Irsay my be a privileged douche, but he's been clean and sober for quite some time and has done a lot behind the scenes to benefit the recovery community. Just sayin'.

Too many people don’t give a damn about the facts.

You know who else has mental exhaustion? Every person who isn’t a rich athlete. Nurses, factory workers, construction workers and the list goes on and on. People working 50-60 or more hours per week. Those people also break down physically due to their jobs and have work related injuries. They don’t have a training staff taking care of them and waiting on them hand and foot. They miss out on time with kids and family because of long hours and in some cases work in terrible environments and conditions. They make far less in a year than these athletes do for 1 game. So yes Luck is well within his rights to retire and think about himself, his health and what makes him happy. But give me a break with the media and people criticizing the fans for booing when they spend a lot of their hard earned money supporting these athletes and teams. Where do people think the money to pay these players comes from.

Including postseason, Luck's been sacked 174 times since 2012, Brady 197 times, Russell Wilson 299 times!

So maybe it isn't all on protection, which was bad for sure, until last year. With all of the missed medical diagnoses and poor rehab outcomes, I wonder if the Colts medical staff doesn't share some blame.

How about a major part being on Luck? Holding the ball too long and taking too many chances running past the line of scrimmage caused many of his hard hits.

Well, Luck missed 26 games so those figures are not comparable.

And then there is this:

Nobody was surprised when Gronk retired at 29, tired of waking up every Monday morning feeling like he had been in a car crash. It shouldn't be such a surprise that Luck made the same decision, perhaps for the same reasons.
