Reality check for the anti-Beard folks…

Certainly. On her arms. She might kick you She might bite you She might head butt you but you can't hit or strangle her. At that point you're being the aggressor not defender. You just can't do it.

Is it possible that she accidentally gets choked while you're trying to subdue her? Like for two seconds, as was in the police report?

What if she had you pinned somehow someway? You bite her arm to get free?

Is it possible? This is why no charges were brought. It's way too fuzzy without more information.

Look, we have a POTUS who is fighting to get the Tate Bros out of jail and freed here to the US...

Our women (and my daughters) need protection from this crap.

Poo pooing what Beard did is a not so distant cousin of approving of the Tate idiots' return to the US, imho.

There's an ugly tide of "not good" men on the rise. Nothing "tough" or "bad ass" about it, either. It needs to be smacked down, hard.
When physical aggression is the subject of inquiry, studies consistently find that as many women self-report perpetrating this behavior as do men; some studies find a higher prevalence of physical aggression committed by women (for a review see Archer, 2000). For example, the National Family Violence Survey (Straus & Gelles, 1990), a nationally representative study of 6,002 men and women, found that in the year before the survey, 12.4% of wives self-reported that they used violence against their husbands compared to 11.6% of husbands who self-reported using violence against their wives. Furthermore, 4.8% of wives reported using severe violence against their husbands, whereas 3.4% of husbands reported using severe violence (Straus & Gelles, 1990). Studies with college samples also find that men and women commit similar rates of physical aggression (Cercone, Beach, & Arias, 2005) or that a higher prevalence of women commit physical aggression (Straus, 2004).

I'm surprised women talk to you, assuming they do.

Hopefully there's a court order permitting you from going within 50 feet of one.
Now that’s not fair. You said end of discussion 3 replys back. Please, please, please end the discussion. My wife and I have four daughters (grown now) and they never whined as much as you.

With all due respect, there's a world out there outside of yours. I went through a divorce as well, and while going through that divorce, one time, after having cross-cut the lawn, paid the bills, vacuumed the house, cleaned the kitchen and gotten everything in immaculate order, a police officer showed up at the door. When I went to the door he just looked at me. I finally said, "What's going on?" and he gave me a look and asked me in a confrontational manner, "I don't know. Why don't you tell me?" It was then that I looked over and saw my soon to be ex-wife sitting with my 10-month-old son on one side and my two-year-old son on the other, trying to muster some crocodile tears. There had been absolutely nothing going on, but the nightmare was playing out: she was really going for it. I couldn't believe it. Lucky for me I was calm and truly bewildered and the house was immaculate. The officer asked me if there had been an argument or if I'd been yelling and I said simply, "No." He asked my ex if I'd argued with or yelled at her and she replied, "No, but he was saying things sarcastically and making me feel uncomfortable."

The officer was stunned. He told her that was not a reason to call the police. He apologized to me and told me watch my back. He's seen it a million times and not all officers are interested in the man's explanation no matter how plausible and/or evident it is.

It turns out her attorney, my attorney and the judge were not very happy with her and she had to formally apologize to all of us at the judge's insistence.

She's not like that generally speaking but she got caught up in the bitterness of divorce and rode a wave of cheerleading from her friends and family.

I also had a good friend who had a good friend whose career as a schoolteacher was ended by a female student who falsely accused him of sexual misconduct. Even when it was proven she was lying the school district would not take him back and he was unable to find a job in teaching.

My experiences didn't teach me to just say all women are whack job liars who deserve it. It taught me to block out the tidal wave of knee-jerk reactions, uneducated conclusions and immense noise and judge what happened and make a reasoned guess as to why.

It all matters.

Maybe Beard is a scumbag. But if he is I don't know of any incidents that prove it. This one is murky at best. And it doesn't bother me at all to say so.
100% but good luck telling them that. They have made up their minds and preach from the holier than thou pulpit. I know a guy who had too spend a weekend in jail on totally made up allegation. But the rush to judgment crowd would probably of h ad him 100% guilty solely off the allegation. Scary. Remember the guys you are speaking to think they are superior and have never done anything wrong.

You keep saying the same dumb shit over and over. Beard was never falsely accused of anything. He attacked his fiance because she broke his glasses. The charges were dropped because she decided not to cooperate, not because he was falsely accused of laying hands on her.

You believe attacking your significant other for breaking your glasses is either acceptable or unacceptable.

Believing it’s unacceptable doesn’t make you holier than thou, it simply means you’re a normal f****** person.

I'd be curious to know what percent of guys on here who hate beard had the Duke lacrosse guys guilty on day one? I am guessing you won't admit it but I'd say well over 50% of you had them guilty and were ready to throw away the key.

They don't. That I can't deny.

Because the State isn't going to spend the time and/or resources to take a case to trial with an uncooperating witness. Any half-whit public defender would destroy her on the witness stand. Trials cost time and tax payer money if you didn't know?

Seriously?

Well, how on earth could any half-wit public defender destroy her on the witness stand if this case is so open and shut? That doesn't make sense.

The DA in this case had prosecuted over 1,000 domestic abuse cases in the prior four years.

Literally ZERO comparison to the Duke lacrosse case.

God you’re a moron.

Not at all how Domestic Violence cases work. Not up to the accuser to press or drop charges. Try learning the law.

These statements contradict.

They don’t. The state isn’t going to try a domestic violence case with a non-credible witness. Jesus Christ.

She didn’t drop the charges, the state dropped the charges because she changed her story making it impossible to prosecute Beard.

I see you lack both common sense and any semblance of morality. Not shocking.

I didn't say she dropped the charges. I said your statements contradict.

You said it's not up to the accuser to press charges. Then you said no charges are being brought because she's not cooperating. Well, if it's not up to the accuser then whether she cooperates or not is a moot point. It doesn't matter because it's not up to her.

He wasn't charged because the case was too fuzzy and there was no clear evidence as to what did or didn't happen. Not because of cooperation or non-copperstion.

You yourself did just said she's non-creditable. So why are you so hell bent on believing her, then? Hell, you're hellbent on believing your own wildly embellished story of hers.

Yet you yourself say she's not creditable.

Yet you know beyond a shadow of a doubt what happened and that he should be convicted. But your only source is her. The same person you don't think is creditable?

I'm using your own words, brother. How old are you?

If you're right, then ESPN and almost every other news agency is lying to us.

That said, I'm fine with IU hiring him, despite his egregious behavior and boring offense.

The DA said in part. If they don't have any evidence beyond a reasonable doubt, the accuser doesn't want him prosecuted, she changes her story dramatically and then refuses to cooperate on top of all that? Yeah, they're not going to be able to go forward with a case.

Texas is a world class university. Ole Miss and Texas Tech are...not remotely close in stature to Texas, or to Indiana, for that matter, and we're not an elite institution (outside of a few schools on campus).

I believe Indiana's reputation, particularly given our history with coaches with stains on their CV, makes us closer to Texas than to Lubbock or Oxford in terms of how we'll view him.
So this is your version of Kenpom ranking on how to view universities. LOL I don't care if people are anti-Beard but these kinds of posts are ridiculous. Texas is better than ol miss so blah, blah blah...

Texas BTW, hired a very good football coach a few years who had some big alcohol problems at USC. My guess is their investigation into Beard was to check with their legal team to see if they could get out from his contract and that's where it stopped. Please post links on what they found in their huge investigation.

As long as he wins who cares?

I'm fine with Beard, as I said. However, given the choice between a winning coach with an entertaining offense (McDermott, Lloyd, Oates) and a winning coach with a less entertaining style (Beard, Bennett, McCollum), I'd prefer the entertaining one.

The reality is that no matter who we hire, they'll still lose around eight or more games per year. Even on those off nights, it would be nice to at least enjoy the style of play.

Are you saying you'd accept a loss as long as it was entertaining?

I’ve never found Beard’s teams to be boring on offense. I think it just depends on the level of talent.

The difference is that Beard actually assaulted the woman, unless you think she did that to herself.

Would it be an assault if another man had initiated a fight with him? No, it would have been a case of a guy defending himself.

Again, the correct response to a woman starting an altercation is never to engage but we don't have all the details. All we have is her statement saying he was trying to defense himself and that she initiated the altercation. I would think the context of all this would matter.

I just don't want another blah coach...IU needs to get this right.
