The IU team is now structured to compete and win in the Big 10. Year after year, this style of play has proven to be ineffective in the NCAA tournament.
IU is now in a total re-build year. CMW is starting to continue to find players who fit his preferred style of play. A bit less emphasis on always going inside out. That worked with TJD but he is now gone.
I feel CMW would like to play a similar overall style as Miami, with a bit more height. He wants a crushing defense with a slashing, cutting, 3 point point shooting and board crashing offense.
CMW wants players that are more versatile, can find ways to score, find the better shot and block out and rebound.
IU needs more speed on booth offense and defense. IU needs at least 3 very good ball handlers on the floor at all times.
When trying to become a better program, CMW needs to not only analyze the other Big 10 teams, but also the teams that have had the most success in the NCAA tournament.
Build and coach the team for post-season success.
More competitive bench players that are suited to thrive in CMW's preferred style of play.
If he can recruit one, one alpha player stud but at least 4 other players who score in double figures on a frequent basis.
More rebounding via anticipation, blocking out and when the rebound can't be secured, tipping it out for a teammate to hunt down.
More second chance shots. More offensive rebounds.
