Race Thompson

Prior to the 4 game skid (and honestly, they had the Maryland game in the bag) this IU team was feeding off Race T's steady play. His absence over the last few games certainly played a part in IU's struggles. He stepped on the floor and picked up right where he left off before his injury. Really looking forward to watching him continue to improve.

I'm digging the TJD-Race-Smith-Green-Rob lineup.

Sprinkle in Jerome for Smith if we need more offense and let Durham and Brunk come off the bench to spell people.

It's amazing how bad Durham and Brunk are on defense. Durham is constantly holding his jock and Brunk has happy feet, gets faked out of his shoes (and goddammit still overhedges and gets killed for it. TJD doesn't over hedge. Deron doesn't overhedge. Why is Brunk still overhedging and getting pushed out to half court. Awful).

Durham and Brunk are garbage defensively.

I've been saying it all year long (and Durham all career long).

Looks like TJD, Race and Justin actual know how to rotate, hedge and switch on defense.

Throw Rob at the point (who's been a turnover machine offensively but is really good defensively).

Throw in Green at the 2 for offense and that should be your main lineup.

Sub in Jerome for Smith for a little more offensive juice if we need it.

Sprinkle in Durham, Franklin, Brunk and Deron for spells and boom there is your rotation.

You should be our coach you mad scientist you.

Brunk is what he is. A big body that helps on offense. But, Durham is a major disappointment for a Jr. He doesn’t belong in the Big Ten.

Has been huge for IU vs Iowa.
Race has been so consistent lately. We really missed him after he got hurt. I would say he and JS are the most consistent players on the team this year. Couple others could be argued...

You need to let it go. Brunk's not good at it, but he's not fleet of foot and is obviously trying to do what the Coach is asking of him. I'm actually surprised how rarely it hurts us as far out of position as he gets. Aside from Garza, who was beyond terrific, not that many teams have taken advantage of it. It's under your skin and I get it, but on a list of problems/weaknesses team has, that one is far, far down the list. Put FTs, TOs, and effort at the top and they all impact our outcomes about 5X as much as "overhedging".

Agree. I am not concerned if Race and Hunter start or not but they should get big minutes off the bench. I think it worth seeing what Brunk is going to do then adjust. Last night he was just outmatched by Garza.

I know Hunter had the tech meltdown and didn't get many minutes against Iowa but TJD, Race, Smith, and even Deron played well I thought. Still Hunter can enter the game for anyone on the front court. Smith can slide down to the 4.

I think Al is OK as a rotation bench player and he should be the bench captain next season. Putting him in that role now for Green makes sense, IMO.
