Purdue losing to NW today certainly makes it more interesting. I still think they win the regular season title by 3 or more games. That said, we have IU and NW tied for second with records of 9-5. Then 6 teams at third (Illinois at 8-5) and the other five teams at 8-6. I do not recall another season where this late in the season we had 8 teams separated by one game at 2nd/3rd. All IU needs to do is keep winning and worst we can finish is second. I predicted IU would finish 12-8 in league play. With six games to play, the Hoosiers are 9-5 with some tough games coming up and three of the next 4 on the road @NW / Illinois / @MSU / @PU. If we can win at least two of these, we hold serve. If we lose 3 or more, trouble. Conversely, go 3-1 that is a damn strong outcome and eff it, go 4-0 and we will be no more than 1 game out of first place with 2 games to league games remaining. It's go time! On to NW!

No, if IU goes 4-0 they might be in first. Purdue travels to MD in a few days and could very well lose their 4th, since the Terps are very tough to beat at home.

I am going off the assumption PU wins out and IU is battling for second. That said, should IU win at NW and then again on Saturday vs Illinois, we would finish this week at 11-5 in conference play. Say PU drops one at MD and then thumps OSU to close out the week. That leaves them at 13-4. IU would be 1.5 games out heading into the week of @MSU and then @PU. I am getting way too far ahead of myself but just throwing out a scenario. No matter the scenario, Purdue has the entire week to practice and prepare for IU. Doesn't bode well for us from a scheduling perspective.

At the end of the day losing the iowa game will likely bite us.

I would put Illinois playing at PU to close the season as a pick em game as well.

They might end up winning the BT but people who follow the league will know it's due to them pulling out a few close games against non contenders and having the absolute easiest schedule.
This 100%.

Like winning at Minny with half of their team out, or getting blasted at Penn St. or giving up a 21 point lead against Iowa!

Teams with a bigger, better, more talented, more physical backcourt than Purdue.

Houston
Alabama
Arizona
Texas
Tennessee
UCLA
Virginia
Kansas
Iowa State
Kansas State
Xavier
Baylor
Gonzaga
TCU
Indiana
Miami
Providence
UConn
NC State
Creighton
Rutgers
San Diego State
Auburn
Clemson
Pitt
Maryland
Arkansas
Northwestern............

Probably a handful of mid majors that they'd likely face 1st or 2nd round. You nervous? You should be.

Might as well include losing to NW at home as well by forgoing all defense.
Yep correct. Those two games did us in for the big ten title. To have any sort of shot at all we would have to win at Purdue for sure and probably even finish like 5-1 in the next 6.

Purdue has already beat Gonzaga and Maryland, Gonzaga lost to Purdue bye double digits and beat Xavier and took Alabama to the wood shed on their home floor! You left off top 10 Marquette that Purdue beat.

Tall order, but let’s see if we can pull out a W in a tough game at NW. Last year we played very well at Purdoo, giving them all they could handle. No reason we cannot improve on that matchup and find a way to win.

They have a week to prepare for us and we play @MSU on Tuesday of that week prior to going to Purdue for the Saturday matchup. If we get through that week 1-1, I will consider it a success. 2-0 would be outstanding and 0-2 would be disappointing. Only time will tell. Let's first take care of NW. That is going to be a tough game. We do not matchup well with teams who have formidable guards who can score and look to score!

It's fun to see the rankings come out this week and guess how many more wins and where IU will be seeded in the tourney. But to sum it up, let's just wait until the Big 10 tournament is completed before we get too excited. I think we will go 4-2 the rest of the regular season but who knows.

Educated guesses...

I think we'll win out at home, and win 1 on the road. 13-7 finish. Probably gets us a 5-6 seed in the NCAAs.

Here's some guesses on seeding depending on how we finish...

15-5...probably gets us a 2-3 seed.
14-6...probably gets us a 4 seed.
13-7...probably 5-6 seed.
12-8...probably 6-7 seed.
11-9...probably 7-8 seed.
10-10...9-10 seed, probably bubble talk, but should be safely in.
9-11...bubble...looking at 11-12 play in type scenario, possibly missing out depending on how rest of Bubble does.

Like has been said a million times, we need to get Xavier and Race back and playing as close to 100 percent as possible. If that happens, anything from 2-7 seed in the tourney is fine.
