Our new DB transfer from South Carolina, Wesley Green, was a big recruit for Spurrier in his 2014 class and had over 20 offers. He will now be part of the count in our 2016 class. He was a 4 star out of high school. What I don't quite understand is how transfers won't factor in to the overall Rivals recruiting ranking and, thus, those ratings won't impact our rating as a recruiting class?
I guess it is all just for fun in the grand scheme of things but how can you not factor in a 4 star stud to the overall recruiting ratings for the 2016 class is beyond me? It's as if he doesn't exist. The same goes for Hawkins and Howard, although they were 3-star and 2-star coming out of high school respectively on signing day.

A transfer should have his Rivals ratings transfer along with him.

Im not sure about Rivals' stance on it, but i know 247 won't post a transfer in the commitment area unless they've had a chance to regrade them. That transfer we got from Ohio State a few weeks ago was a 4 star out of high school, and 247 regraded him to a low three star before adding him to the class i think.

I guess that re-assessment underscores the real accuracy of the star rating process. It appears to asses the future by looking only at the past. Potential is later realized by the success on the field and a host of other non predictable events such as injuries, coaching changes and who wins the toss and elects to receive or defend.

More hype then actual science.

His ratings won't transfer and even if they did, Rivals would likely drop him from a 4 to a 3 or maybe even a 2. Regardless he's a huge get for us.

I understand he was highly regarded out of high school a couple of years ago, but wasn't familiar with how he played at South Carolina. Was he a contributor for them? Why did he transfer?

A "huge get" based on what?

Well.....based on his 2014 rankings, right?

* 4-star Rivals
* 17th ranked in state of Georgia
* 208 overall in the country
* Scholarship offers from: Alabama, Arkansas, Clemson, Georgia, Florida, Ole Miss, Missouri, Miami FL, Ohio State, North Carolina, NC State, USC, Tennessee....

What's not to like?
Not sure how it wouldn't be a big pickup?

Wasn't he a redshirt? I guess since he didn't start as a true frosh he is a dud.
You're probably right on this one.

He redshirted his only year there
