Is there a reason Indiana hasn't offered Anthony Leal yet? The kid has some solid offers and is in our backyard. I have not seen him play but just wondering...Anyone have any insight?

Archie doesn’t like shooters? I have no effing clue. One would think after last year a top 100 shooter in your back yard would be a pretty high priority. I guess not. Anyway, the rumor on the sunshine pumping board is that he will get an offer Monday when Archie has an in home visit. We shall see.

Been watching some vids this this morning not only can he shoot he's got a good all around game. A Stanford offer??? Kids got smarts and can ball, wtf are we doing?

He's not a great Kyle Guy type shooter. He can hit the open jumper but isn't a guy who hunts for a jump shot. I've seen him play many times. That being said he is a solid all around player. He's kinda a tweener. Decent at everything and probably only 6'3" in reality. I bet he gets an IU offer before long and turns into a solid player for us.

Ethan Morton is Archie's top priority in the class of 2020 and seems to be in very good shape with him. He's a better, more athletic version of Leal and is a better 2 way player. If you don't get Morton or things start to go south with his recruitment, Leal is in your back pocket. Leal is going to hold out for IU until Archie tells him there's no way he's getting offered.

Still think there's a world where IU gets both Leal and Morton especially if IU doesn't use these last two scholarships on kids with multiple years of eligibility. Will have at least 4 available for 2020 once Davis and Green graduate.

We only had two scholarships to offer until a few weeks ago, so it seems Archie was holding off on making an offer that is suspected to be an insta-commit, so that other recruits didn't get squeezed out.

Now, my guess is that Archie is waiting on Watford and Quinones, and perhaps another transfer or two to shake out, and he'll offer Leal when they get to the point where they know they'll have room for him.

Leal is rated about 70-ish nationally, and some don't think he deserves that high of a rating. Morton is much higher rated, and one of the two scholarships will certainly need to go to a big man. So, if you offer Leal two months ago and he accepts, other coaches start telling Morton (perhaps rightly) that IU doesn't have a scholarship for him. I presume that when Archie is sure that class will have 3 or 4 kids in it, Leal will get an offer.

BUT...since both transfers so far are big men, it's possible Archie may want two bigs in that class now. I doubt it, though, since we added Brunk.

In short, it's fluid, and you don't want an insta-commit by Leal to open you up to negative recruiting from other coaches. So...you keep in touch, keep it real, and let him know that you are interested but you have to see how many rides you have. It appears that's what we're doing.

Archie may have already figured this out and be offering Leal during the upcoming in-home. Maybe not. We will see...after all, no one expects Leal to commit any place this week. Quinones and Watford are 6 months from suiting up and still haven't decided. Leal is 18 months from suiting up. We have time.

Seems like Archie is at least attempting some sort of roster management/planning as opposed to Crean, who offered whoever the fvck was in ear shot. Crean is the reason we have an unbalanced roster, including the ‘17 freshmen class.
