Queen to Maryland

Why not be like Cig, stop looking at Stars and look at potential and then coach them up. Taht's how you build a team. Can this coaching staff do that? don't know. It hasn't shown the ability to do that.
Cig is TBD, but I really like his defined system from the coaches that implement it to the process for recruiting in the NIL era.

I don’t think that approach excludes us from getting the 5*s. The best bball teams always have the highly rated kids. We are never going to do much with a bunch of 3*s playing near perfect bball. But, I’d like to see us have a strong base and culture in our 3-4 year players and then sprinkle in the 5*s that fit and can take us to the next level.

Maybe we are saying the same thing.

So much for those top notch recruiting assistants on the staff. Maybe bring in some new blood in the off season.
Don’t seem to develop players and don’t seem to recruit well. I think we have the largest group of assistants in the conference.

In the next few weeks coaches are going to get fired, shuffled around, decommits will happen, no telling right now who we will be able to get in the portal or from decommits/late signings I hope for the best, can't do anything about it regardless.

Ware draft stock not rising and I know he has weaknesses but he’s just too perfect of a body and style for the current NBA.

So what if Woodson kinda(?) patterns his O after Illinois and goes small ball with Reneau under then you have McNeely, MM and hopefully pick up some shooter/drivers from the portal? Or is he not capable of doing that?

Most people think Mack will leave...no matter what his draft stock is sitting at.

I think if he were to stay, and he could play the "4" position, alongside Malik, with Liam largely at the 3...and they could bring in a couple really good, starter level guards...they could be pretty good next year.

Even with just Malik and Liam...if we bring in a couple really good guards, we'll be better next year. Assuming Woody and the staff adjust and use them according to their/our strengths.

How ‘bout fewer “Ace” recruiters and some assistant coaches who can actually teach the game? The 3 guys charged with recruiting haven’t been tearing it up
in that role and lord knows, the guys aren’t being coached up or taught well.

Chris Collins brought in Chris Lowrey to be in charge of Northwestern’s D a couple years ago. Home run hire!!! Has totally changed NU’s identity. Shrews was a tremendous assistant at PU in his 2 stints. Fred Hoiberg brought back former Nebraska HC, Doc Sadler, as an assistant.

Huge miss. I don’t think you can completely explain it based on the team’s performance this season though. Maryland’s season hasn’t been a whole hell of a lot better than ours, arguably worse. It must go deeper than that.
Yes, our season here in Terrapinland has not been very much fun...

ESPN reporting that Queen chose Maryland over Houston and Kansas. No mention of IU.
FWIW.
