So a rant if you all will allow me. We still have to have a printer available at home for certain things mostly revolving around school stuff, which has gone mostly electronic but still need to have here and there. Modern printers have to be the worst example of throw away technology that we have. I haven't owned any brand or any model that doesn't seem to clunk out after an ink change or two. They are all just shitty products. Just filling up landfills with these plastic pieces of shit.

That's my TED Talk for today after our $200, 2 year old printers had one of the paper thin pins that reads the toner cartridge fold and snap. Now I gotta go buy another one of these pieces of shit for one of the kid's to complete a school project.

Businesses that need to print documents don't even own printers anymore. They contract with a company that sends them printers and replaces the ink as needed (I'm assuming this is where they make their money), because it's just not worth actually having your name on those pieces of shit.

Preach.

Can’t think of any single thing that universally has such an awful relationship to humanity.

That’s exactly right. Mcnutt made a damn nice living in that racket

I've had Brother laser printer for years and it churns out fine. I'm kind of shocked how much stuff we print out and it keeps going. And then when it finally dies you pop one of those big toner carts in. Lasts another year

Are you using ink jet stuff? Those are trash

It was a brother laser printer. And yes, we sprung a little bit more for it because the ink jet ones are even worse garbage.

That's too bad. Which one?

I've had the 2350DW for a long while now and it seems to be a solid home office choice. Had some issues with Wi-Fi printing from my phone initially, but they did some update to the plugin app and it's worked fine for at least a year since.

Looks like it's been discontinued and the replacement is the 2460DW. Hopefully mine doesn't shit the bed. First printer I've owned that's not been a POS within a year

I have a Canon (not color) laser printer that I've been using for at least 10 years. Only thing I've ever done is replace the toner cartridge.

HP has the best Linux support, Canon the worst, and Brother and Epson are in between. HTH.

2390DW. It had been going good for a little bit. The pins for the toner reader are really flimsy on it.
