42-35. Our defense will be better with a game under our belt and some returning players. This defense is still going to struggle. We left the TE open throughout the game. We were lucky they didn't burn us more often. That isn't a flaw due to athletic ability. It is about preparation and scheme.

Will be interesting to see if the defense plays better due to Wilson's critique that the defensive staff was feeding the players "too much information" and needed to simplify things.

As Wilson said, their desire to improve causes them to tighten up too much. I expect a "looser" defense from here on out but with veterans struggling to shed old mind sets but true frosh bailing them out.

I don't think "simplify" is necessarily about playcalls, just more about communication patterns, and not getting caught flat footed because players were overthinking their positioning and pursuit angles.

IU 31 - 28. Defense shows improvement, but still allows some big play mistakes and it is closer than it should have been again...but as long as show improvement and are 2-0, then mission accomplished.
