PU will be up for the game after their embarrassing season and it’s a rivalry. They played MSU kinda well. It will be frigid. It’s not a cake walk of a game.

I honestly think that Cig will have the team ready to kill. I think the IU players will be ready to faceplant someone. Will the crowd be ready? A sell out on a probably cold Saturday night? I turned off that MSU / PUke game at halftime and was surprised by the final score. MSU does do a lot of self-destruction on offense though so maybe it was more MSU than Purdue for the comeback.
On thing I noticed in the first half ... a lot of times in a congested attempt to catch the ball ... the PUke receivers would get the opponent the chance to grab one of their arms with an offer or leave one of their arms and hand into the MSU DBs chest and then try to get the PI call and never attempted to catch a very catchable ball with two hands. Sometimes it was so obvious it was funny.
I don’t see IU dominating. The defense has played well but the offense has fallen off a cliff.
I have no idea which Purdue team will show up.

You will probably see Pu blitz on every passing down and some running downs. They saw how it has affected us the last two games. They have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

PU isn't Michigan or Ohio State: they don't have their horses. That being said, some adjustments need to be made.
I look for Indiana to come out and run the ball down Purdue's throat. Indiana ran the ball against Ohio State throughout that game but simply couldn't hold up in passing protection.
The running game should setup whatever we want in the passing game. This game should be a blowout in Indiana's favor.

Sagarin rankings have something called "Strong Recent" computerized rating. 3 points for the home team and they say IU wins by 37. Last week it was a little off, saying OSU would win by 12 on the "Strong Recent" category.
I mentioned yesterday that one thing I saw in the MSU game, they like to try and get a PI on most of their long passes and some catchable passes. Meaning .. they stick an arm/hand into the chest or gut of the DB and reach for the ball with one hand as if the DB is grabbing their arm to prevent them from catching the pass. I saw catchable pass if they had used two hands.
This year's IU's D is better than last year so I would not expect Mookobee running wild this year. Like HoosierJimbo89 said they dont have the horses and speed that scUM or the Suckeyes had for their blitzing package.
Crowd noise will be different so expect the OL to take care of the QB against that blitz.
What if Cig runs the score up (Some Purdue fans want that so Walters has a better chance to get fired) or if he scores at the end of the game up by 28 or more points. After all the times that Tiller ran the score up on IU I suggest foot to the floor and score as many possible.

Purdue could end up playing 5 playoff teams: ND, Oregon, OSU, PSU, IU.
Being in the soft West forever, it's about time they face some better teams!

No, but Indiana hasn't adjusted to other teams overloading our OL (outnumbering) either. Fingers crossed on that this coming wknd.
Ryan Walters was pretty emotional during the Sparty press conference: looked like he had been crying. IU needs to curb stomp PU.
If the opportunity is there to blow them out and run it up, then yes, I think Cig will do so. He knows the fans want it and that it should help with in-state recruits. That’s the way Tiller looked at it, too. Also he needs all the style points he can muster to try and secure a CFP bid.
That said, we all know sometimes these games go sideways. ‘81, what turned out to be a Jim Young’s (a great coach) last game, IU, coming in 2-8, pulled a big upset. ‘86, PU came in 2-8, Leon had already been fired. IU comes in 6-4 and a 20+ point favorite at PU…horrible loss for IU!! Could go on and on, like ‘89, don’t even get me started!!
The ‘03 PU team was maybe Tiller’s best. The week before they lost a heartbreaker in OT to OSU. Boilers came in totally disinterested vs a terrible IU team of GD’s and only because LoVecchio missed multiple open receivers at or near the end zone, did they escape, 24-16, IU having to settle for 3 FGs. IU in ‘93, came in 7-3 after 2 weeks in a row of heartbreaking losses at PSU and OSU. Coletto had already fired his dc and Spack, the LBs coach, after giving up 59 at Minnesota in late October, and gave IU all they wanted that day, in just a 7-point win.
IU needs to leave no doubt!!

I don't know the specifics as well as you're stating and generally agree that these rivalry games can get sideways, but how many of those headscratchers you referenced were played at the favorite's home stadium? we're going to drag their dicks in the dirt.

A lot of that has to do with the teams we’ve played the last two weeks. Theres 7 projected defensive 1st rd picks on Michigan and Ohio State alone. IU will be able to name the score against Purdue…IU will dominate their lines.
I’ve been watching this rivalry since the mid 80’s and this the most lopsided match up of them all. This Purdue team is worse than any Hazell era team and this IU team is significantly better than any Wilson-era team and there were some massive blowouts in some of those contests.
We lost Drew right before the UM game which was tough. Plus we were a drop away from perhaps another TD or FG to make that game a little more comfortable.

The point spread will be covered by IU by halftime ... 2nd half ugly with the temps dropping further down the thermometer and PUke players playing like they can't wait for the game and their season to be over.
Since 2010 the IU is 6-7 vs them with no game in the covid year 2020.

I think they ducked Indiana during Covid because Indiana would've put 50 on them. They cried Covid, we owe them a humiliating defeat.
Word is PU is sticking with Walters at least for another year. I would hate to be a PU fan at this time.
I hope their confidence isn’t shook from Ohio State’s insanely athletic Defensive front and LBs blowing us up. Purdue doesn’t have that speed or size. They need to have short memories and take care of business like they’ve done to every team this year. POTFBs!
