As an IU grad and an avid IU B-Ball fan who lives in the shadow of MSU's Breslin Center, I have always enjoyed visiting the IU basketball forums until recently. The negativity is self- defeating. If I were a basketball recruit and tracked the IU basketball forums, I would be completely turned off by some of the stuff that is posted here in this forum, not only stuff about me as a potential recruit but also about current IU players. As a recruit, I would be totally turned off with all of the negativity in these fan forums. I would not want to play under a microscope where every mistake and error is magnified way out of proportion. I would probably choose to play elsewhere. Embrace the kids that pledge to play for IU; support their development and growth both as a player and as a good citizen. Every one of these young men have value, not only as a player but also as an American. Support them and encourage their achievement and success. This, alone, will help the very capable coaching staff successfully get the young men they need to develop the program we all want. Stop all the negativity. It only hurts and prevents what we are all after.

Injuries can take a good team and turn their season upside down. Both the negativity and the over-the-top optimism seem misplaced and premature. We still don't know if Lil Archie can coach well enough to win consistently in the BIG ten. So far he is recruiting well enough to be competative in the top half of the conference.

However, IMHO recruiting is not good enough to dominate the BIG, just good enough to compete. Archie must really excellent in the X&O coaching to win. His coaching will be under severe scrutiny in the next couple years, and we will figure out which side was right. Is it the negative Nancy's or the bet me bullies?

You're not playing the game correctly. You have to guess and predict Millers future and the first person right or wrong wins the internet. Waiting, gathering information and knowledge before making an opinion is for losers.

Best example of very good recruiting with a bad coach would be Maryland

Agreed. Since Crean is gone, he does the least with the most.

Not bad for a fat girl lover.

Hamilton at Florida St is another though not as inconsistent or bad as Turgeon.

Why can't the answer be somewhere the 2 extremes that you suggest?

Another post blaming our "mean" fans for the program's lack of success recruiting and on the court. That must be why Kentucky has been more successful, as we all know how level headed their fans are.

IU fans that have put up with the performance over the last 2 decades, are still following the program, and showing up to games should be commended, not ridiculed. If you're mad about the performance blame the people responsible, not the fans that keep paying money, showing up to games, and keeping this once proud program afloat.

Archie Miller will do as well in the B1G as he did in Dayton's conference. Once he gets past not having a lack of experienced PG, leadership, culture etc issues.

That means he will have the IU team competing for the B1G conference title (in the top 4) 3 years out of 4. He will have the team in the NCAAT every year. But he will exceed the Dayton performance. They will have the opportunity to get to the Final Four routinely. He will have the teams improving throughout the season..with the normal caveat of injuries. Depth on the bench will get better.

But he has to get his recruits in place with experience.

The '76 & '77 Hoosiers refused to lose. It took a lot of experience through game exposure and in critical practices to get that culture and team focus accomplished. And RMK had supersubs...depth.

In comparison let's reflect on this: RMK while at OSU was a mere sub. Archie was a starter! dws

If recruits read Rupp Rafters Kentucky would never land another player again. The fans are the least of IU’s problems. IU has been leeching off of a too lenient and devoted fanbase for over twenty years. At other bluebloods the fans would have revolted long ago.

I learned a long time ago that it's not what you say that offends people but rather HOW you say it.

What does a fan revolt look like? Will you lead it?

I agree. I hate incessant complaining, but I think this board is for fans to discuss the state of our program, which overall stinks in terms of actual on the floor performance. I do think CAM and CTC recruited totally different types of players, and I prefer what I believe is CAM's approach. But last year sucked, despite the lack of leadership, chemistry or injury issues. There was too much talent on that team NOT to make the tourney... and I think it's OK and what should be said. I also don't think there's no hope for this year. Despite their talent, I felt that RL and JM both contributed to the chemistry issue, or weren't able to get the team to overcome it. While we'll miss their talent, hopefully any such issues went out the door with them. A healthy DD, RP and JH are also great cause for optimism as is adding a 5 star, and maybe Brunk can bring some missing leadership. Last year I felt we severely underperformed, so maybe this years karma will see us overperform and catch some breaks, much as PU did last year. I thought that roster would struggle mightily to make the tourney and they way overperformed (I still don't see how they did it!). If I had to fault Archie for anything this year it would be not having a backup plan for Brooks earlier and not finding a reliable shooter as an xfer. To me the pressure is totally on this year. A program that wasn't decimated by scandal at a school like IU, shouldn't miss the tourney 3 years in a row. I think our fanbase hanging with the team and program is a HUGE plus, not a detriment. At other schools, including UNC which I saw with my own eyes, the support dropped off dramatically when their success did... same at PU.

A fan revolt is when fans give up their season tickets so someone else who has been waiting for years can have better seats . . .

Just curious. Is it your inferiority complex that causes you to refer to coach Miller as "Lil Archie"?
Do you possibly only stand about 4' 9" and get off on trying to demean someone who grew a tad taller than you?
Actually I'm curious why you are even here in the first place. Seems you just come here to get your little digs in. Don't know if I've ever seen you post anything positive about anything relating to IU.

Fair question. I am an IU fan. In fact I like all Indiana (state of) basketball. I tend to follow the BIG teams the most. I have plenty of friends and relatives that are Hoosier fans as well. I did graduate from Purdue, so they get deference over the others when head-to-head.

I tend to stay on the positive side most of the time. I think if you go back in my posting history you will find me more respectful and positive than many of your regulars. My reference to Lil Archie is probably left over from my relative disrespect of his coaching job at Dayton. Yes, he had a good record there. I just never liked him. I think he has yet to prove himself at the BIG level. I also note that his BIG peers do not seem to be all that friendly with him. I don't see much respect from the likes of Collins or Izzo, or Painter for that matter. I wouldn't make to much of that. It's just my observation.

Going to be some sort of a special year. Let us all remember it is just for fun and wins and losses do not matter in the least.

Your powers of deduction are less than that of my 6 year old if that’s what you gathered from the OP...& I bet it is.
