I have problems with a lot of churches. Spending money on crap they don't need instead of using it for good.

I'm also faith like a mustard seed worship under a willow tree type. It doesn't cost anything to have some faith.

Once had a priest try to give me marriage advice(my stepmother is catholic, my dad converted). Not taking marriage advice from a "virgin"

I too have a great many problems with a great many churches. Most of organized religion really. I grew up Catholic but not a very good one, that's for sure.

I feel like most churches stray way too far into politics and let those politics inform their faith, instead of the other way around.

Crazy, and I don't play in the catholic sandbox. I just thought he was a nice man (or presented himself as a nice man based upon his comments). The previous Pope-Ratzinger, I have no use for. He spent 20 years of his life covering up the sex abuse.

But, always a but, I'm just looking for consistency. I actually respect very much those Catholics who are staunchly prolife b/c they understand that mean babies and capital punishment. And for babies, Catholic Charities puts their money where their mouths are by supporting those kids all over the world.

It's the duplicitous talk of some religions that all babies must be born but you're on your own once you're out the womb. That bothers me. A lot. I've said often that if you want to ban abortion, we need to have resources in place to care for all these kids. That part gets forgotten, often, by a great many so called Christians.
