He doesn't do much but he doesn't hurt us either. CJ, almost every time he comes in there's breakdowns on both ends. Not bashing on him, just pointing it out.
IU let them heat up confidence is high. Those threes are mostly guarded. Odds say they quit falling ..
You can’t blame this stuff on CJ. Down 11 and CJ has hardly played. Cupps is getting abused. And TG is throwing bricks. The team isn’t even capable of finishing 3 on 1 when the beat the press.
Guard play is really bad.

PSU is doubleteaming our point guards and whoever else ends up dribbling the ball. Then, we're reacting with indecision followed by throwing bad passes,
Compare our ballhandlers to the way PSU's Baldwin is handling the ball.
If Woody doesn't focus on guards and good guards who can shoot and defend, his teams will never be any good. AS a collective whole, the IU guards have to be the worst in the big ten.
And hard to extend or maintain leads without hitting threes. PSU jacking shit up and hitting everything has made us over extend on the D, opening up the drive for them.
Guard play has been an issue all year. We lost this season in last Springs recruiting session and that mistake has haunted us and killed us all year. Good front line, a little young but the back court is shit ..
Like UTFO said, we're not making the tourney, this season is done. Build for next year recruit better ... need multiple guards and wings.
Maybe try to watch the game a little to try to understand. There is lots of instruction for beginners out on YouTube.
I really fear what the toxic IU nation is gonna do. This is gonna get bad this year. I agree, for sure lost it this off season. I just never really believed it totally till today. It will be interesting to see if it is a big enough mistake to cost woody his job.

Reneau had at least two turnovers by misdribbling while in traffic.

I'd still like to see a zone when we show the whole world that we can't guard shooters.

Cupps struggled against pressure with passing today.
You point out all the reasons why for decades coaches spent time on moving with the basketball and passing- because dribble dribble dribble is how you lose the ball.
I've never seen him play, but I can guess that he's not THAT good. This is a roster and coaching issue, not something 1 player solves, even if JHS comes back. This is at best a bubble team then. We're just horrible at so many fundamental things: BLOCKING OUT, setting screens, getting through screens, shot faking, making the right pass (bounce vs chest), trying to earn fouls when the other team is in foul trouble, 3 pt shooting, FT shooting. You can't win if you play poorly in that many areas. Death by a thousand paper cuts.
Our guys really don't know what to do if they aren't running something in a set. There was a time in the first half when I was really pleased with the patience and ball movement. PSU made simple adjustments and in the second half, IU went back to "we should win, we are leading" mode. If I was in that locker room, I'd have dented a locker and screamed at them to get more intense and keep the throttle down.
This team just has a lax way. They don't all care that much about winning, or they are confused. It's one or the other because this team has the talent to play good teams nearly even.
The next time Cupps (or any guard on this team for that matter) that makes his own shot will be the first time this year.
If we had Caleb love he would have played 35 mins a game and we would still be short on guards.

Our guards are simply terrible. Cupps played 33 min and only took 2 shots, making 1 and had zero assists! He is the invisible man that only Woody can see I guess.
They were'nt throwing up shit. They were wide open 3's that finally starting dropping. Maybe some defensive coaching is needed?
Not sure what toxic IU nation is. The fans have shown up all year, including NYC and ATL, despite us being awful. I don’t know what more can be expected from fans when we are about the worst in the B1G and ranked 90+ in the country despite all our NIL and focus on bball.
So why wasnt X on the floor today. Reason 1 why Cupps should play. The team has won 1 game since X came back. Reason 2 why Cupps should play. X is uncontrollable and uncoachable. Reason 3 Cupps should play. X is gone after year 6, no need for him to improve. Reason 4 why Cupps should play. After 6 years he still is allowed to cause trouble. Reason 5 why Cupps should play. Cupps needs the playing time and will get better for it. X cant stay in the game long enough to get the playing time you want him to get. Reason 6 why Cupps should play. One is straight up bad news, the other is not. Reason 7 why Cupps should play. Need more, theres plenty.
