Dix is way better than Goode or Kopp are/were. It gives CDD an opportunity toi go small ball at times. Although not that small - 6"7 ,6"5,6"5. Add a big and PF or a big PG and IU is set with shooters and a couple rebounding posts . Plus those guys could be good scorers down low too. Causes a ton of pressure on opposing Ds.Would love to have both, but if you could have just one who would you prefer? Personally, I say conwell because he has the potential to be a great defender.
How is Dix as a defender/rebounder? My impressions are that he isn't/wasn't very good at either of those things. He can get hot quick, and overall, is a very good shooter. So I'd love to get him. But playing he and DeVries together, could have some unwanted side effects.Dix is way better than Goode or Kopp are/were. It gives CDD an opportunity toi go small ball at times. Who would ever know playing for Fran at Iowa??? It wasn't in the plan. How is Dix as a defender/rebounder? My impressions are that he isn't/wasn't very good at either of those things. Cloudy and 45 today. 😞Also...how is the weather today in Bloomington??
Hopefully warm and sunny... maybe some 'Chix love...Conwells" T-Shirts...
Same could be said for any of Woody's players too...to be fair. At least Fran ran an up tempo, bombs away type offense.Who would ever know playing for Fran at Iowa??? It wasn't in the plan.
Hopefully they only see AH and cook. I don’t want any of the type of players that we have had in the past. If they want to look at the girls on campus like gallo it’s hard pass for me.Also...how is the weather today in Bloomington??

They all like to look at the girls, if I'm IU have a dance team practice or cheerleading practice in Cook while they are visiting.Hopefully they only see AH and cook. you think we can win with a team of Lucy's?Hopefully they only see AH and cook. I don’t want any of the type of players that we have had in the past. If they want to look at the girls on campus like gallo it’s hard pass for me.
At the very least, to show them the new Indiana understands the recruiting process. They all like to look at the girls, if I'm IU have a dance team practice or cheerleading practice in Cook while they are visiting.
Kind of what I suspected... Watching the Sweet 16... lots of dudes out there that are really good, and versatile, on both ends of the floor. The teams that were more one dimensional... lost.Sub-par on both.
Might be only downside with two decent but not great defenders. Shooting would be a big plus to what we had before though. How is Dix as a defender/rebounder? Funny how we see this the same way. You can only have so many Tucker Devries on the team. Dix is not far from Tucker in respect of talent and where he plays, go get dudes that can do it on both sides of the court and that can play fast and above the rim.Kind of what I suspected... Watching the Sweet 16... lots of dudes out there that are really good, and versatile, on both ends of the floor. The teams that were more one dimensional... lost.
Obviously its relative, and the Sweet 16 teams all got to the Sweet 16...not a lot of "luck" this year, so most of them deserved to be there.
But of the 12 "losers" in the S16, only one of them was top 20 in both KenPom O and D metrics... and that's after their tournament games boosted their ratings...and that was Tennessee. And I'd argue their offense was, without question, a weak point for them.
All the rest of the 12 teams that lost, had a decided weakness on one side of the ball.
IU, adding a bunch of "good shooters" like Dix, Enright, etc... to go with DeVries... basically ensures they won't be a FF level team.
It'd be exciting... likely much better than we've seen in a long while. But I'd rather see DeVries get a whole bunch of 2 way guys. And if we do land Dix and Enright... Its ESSENTIAL, DeVries fills out the roster with guys that can defend at a high level. The problem with that though, is you can only play 5 guys at a time.
Tucker DeVries is baked in to the cake. Conwell is a great 2 way guard. I'd love Flory as the back line protector/Lob guy. But man, give me Lamont Butler types, Alijah Martin types, etc... to fill it out.
I just worry about the ceiling it could put on the team. Its a crazy thing to "worry" about with where IU basketball has been. And we literally haven't signed a single player yet, so its also premature. But if you get Conwell and Dix this week... to go along with DeVries... basically can't have any more offensive centric guys in the rotation, in my opinion. Gotta surround Dix and DeVries with length, athleticism, very good 2 way players.Might be only downside with two decent but not great defenders. Shooting would be a big plus to what we had before though.
Oh, I loved McCollum's team. But after seeing this year's tournament, it was pretty eye opening what it looks like it takes to be FF and Natty competitive. And its not being one sided. I think McCollum will end up being very efficient, both offensively, and defensively, with more D1 level dudes on his roster. So it might be a false argument against him.Funny how we see this the same way. You can only have so many Tucker Devries on the team. People were harping about Drake this offseason, I watched (or attempted) two games and it was the most boring shit ever. I could watch Auburn, Florida and Duke everyday and not get bored.
