Pacers are two wins away

You sure?

Ok…..I mean. Probably but I’d file a protest.

Pretty much anyone, the "no blood no foul" ideology sucks. If the Pacers weren't playing, I wouldn't watch. The NBA allows far more contact than the NFL allows defensive backs, it isn't close. I get it to an extent, offenses are so good defenses have to have something. But it just isn't basketball I like. It is hard to be consistent on calls when one has to go beyond contact that gains an advantage. "It gained advantage but looked like only 223 pounds of force and not the 250 minimum" is a tough real-time analysis.

Why even make dribbling mandatory if you are allowed to do that? It’s ridiculous…also it’s not an isolated incident
I was watching that live and couldn’t believe any of the announcers didn’t at least suggest a travel. I feel like there was a time when everyone in the arena would recognize a blatant travel and the players would all agree to stop playing because it was so obvious.

When no one said anything on TV, I honestly wondered if there has been some slight rule change I wasn’t aware of.

They have gone to this gathering step plus two step rule. For a big athletic guy, that is close to half court.
MtM, here is a perspective on traveling from a referee illustrating how difficult, especially in the NBA, to call traveling.

In part the referee has this to say,

Watch the nba and appreciate the work these guys put into their moves. And think about the 3 officials who are trying to watch 10 players - all who are doing their damndest to gain a slight advantage within the rules and those 3 officials have to make a split-second decision about whether a half extra step may have gained enough advantage to warrant a call.

P.S. As a fan sitting in the front row of a Pacer game, I cannot imagine just how a referee can make calls regarding traveling and contact by a defensive player. Watching a game at home on television with replays and closeups is way different. Fans at the game usually just wait until the play is shown on the jumbo screen to voice their opinions.

Not a travel. In the NBA a gather and two steps has been a rule for 16 years. Most of you are just used to NCAA rules. The push off is what everyone should be complaining about.

The Pacers lost because they went cold and couldn't hit a shot in the fourth had nothing to do with refs, the rules, Foster, or the gather step. If they shoot their normal percentage on 3s they win the game. Bitching about refs when the team goes 0-8 from 3 in the 4th is beyond weak.

They choked, it happens ...

I agree that it wasn't a travel. Just a blatant push-off.

And you know those many scoop shots by J Williams? Every damn time he pushes off with the opposite hand to create space for it.

The worst non-call though was the 2-handed shove that Dort gave Haliburton to get a "steal" to put OKC ahead

Can't get outscored 12-1 in the last 3, though, no matter what, and need to shoot 40+% from 3

Agree ... that was a bullshit no call.. They've been hitting those 3pt shots when it mattered throughout the playoffs, just went cold. Adjustments made by Carlyle after losses have been pretty decent .. Pacers should be ready to go tonight.

The Pacers haven't lost two in a row in over 4 months. Quite a resilient bunch, so I'm hopeful. Carlisle is a helluva coach and team IQ (except for Mathurin) seems high.

True, but OKC is a different animal at home. They had no business winning game 1(seriously, that was a miracle) and they weren’t competitive in game 2.

I just don’t see them winning tonight, or again in OKC.

I don’t disagree with anything in your post.

I would add that the extreme push off by Williams and SGA has an enormous effect on every game. They’re almost impossible to defend from 15’ in with the move. I could be wrong but I haven’t seen either called for one offensive foul when they make the push off move.

OKC won game 2 easily.
Pacers won game 3 easily.
OKC choked away game 1 late.
Pacers choked away game 4 late.

Home court hasn't really meant too much and the Pacers have succeeded in making OKC an iso ball team. 10-15 assists, only. If the Pacers get back close to 30 assists in a game then they can win, anywhere. The key is having Haliburton get 20+ points & 10+ assists. Tall order, but they are something like 20-1 when he does.

Unfortunately, I can't disagree with you. OKC is probably the slightly better team, but it's hard to tell with the way they officiate games. SGA and Williams have shot a combined 71 free throws. Our best player has shot 3. The officiating is f#cking awful and it reminded me why I can't stand watching the NBA.

The fact that you disagree with me tells me I’m probably right.
