Pacers are two wins away

To win at least 2 more at home, I think the Pacers must shoot much better from 3 than they did last night AND Turner has to play far better than he did last night.
They said Miles was sick last night. Really need better interior defense, seemed like they were sliding through there all night for easy buckets.

CO Hoosier is a Sox fan living in Colorado. Simply put, he needs to sacrifice a goat or something.
MLB has an emergency restocking plan in the event of a team mass disaster.. I think the Rockies are a disaster. Time to implement the restocking plan.

As I recall "Pacers" was picked from fan entries for a team name back in '67.

It has a nod to both horse racing and to the Indy 500 pace cars. As to horses, pacers are a specialized type of horse bred & trained for harness racing, which used to be a very big thing in Indiana. Think... the great Dan Patch, the Secretariat of harness racing. He was undefeated for his entire career, and was so dominant on the racetrack that other owners eventually refused to enter their horses against him and so he went to tracks and audiences watched him do time trials, where he broke world records 14 times.

I have tickets for Rockies/ Sox a a few weeks. I’m working on a plan to sneak a goat into the park for the sacrifice. I was thinking of tossing onto the field and wondering if any player on either team could catch it.

So we know the attendance will be at least 1.

My worst was a Sox game the last year of old stadium, you didn't need to sit in an aisle with anyone else.

My brother went to Atlanta when they were really bad. He said anything in the stands down the first base line his kids had a good shot. They left with 3 balls and got to talk to Ted Turner. They sat fairly close to him and no one else was around.

All the games I have been to and I have never gotten a ball. Closest was right field at Riverfront, the people in front of us caught a Barry Bonds (Pittsburgh days) leadoff homer.

I've tried to go to other baseball stadiums when I get a chance, and I went to a White Sox game while Bo Jackson was still playing - after his hip replacement. I believe it was 1993 before I went to my third ship. Jackson was a great athlete no longer due to the injury, but he could still hit a ton. Running to first base looked painful for him.

Saw the birds on tv flipping channels yesterday. Team is competitive and I was shocked at all of the empty seats. Here in baseball heaven.

People finally coming around? Boomers actually dying?

Don’t know where to put this, but it cannot go unnoticed.

Sammy Terry is a White Sox fan AND the POPE?!?!?

We also attended a Bo game at Chicago. Back before interleague play to see AL players we would go to see Sox or Tigers.

I feel like any baseball stadium outside of Wrigley and Fenway are going to have tons of empty seats on a random weekday.

I love this team and the style of playing 10 guys, full tilt. If somebody gets it rolling, you ride it. If somebody doesn’t have it, you set him down and find another guy that night.

With respect to offense, only a disappearing act by Tyrese or Pascal seems not survivable.

Siakam can get you 30 or get you 12
Haliburton can get you 30 or get you 10
Mathurin can get you 30 or get you 6
Nesmith can get you 30 or get you 6
Nembhard can get you 25 or get you 6
Toppin can get you 25 or get you 6
Turner can get you 25 or get you 6
McConnell can get you 15 or get you 4
Bryant can get you 10 or get you 0
Sheppard can get you 10 or get you 0

You won’t get everybody’s best (230)
You won’t get everybody’s worst (56)

But someone always seems to step up. It a non-star system that confuses the media who insist on consistent individual star making / star hype above all else.

And yes, they do play defense. The 4th quarter last night was a master class.

Really? They can’t catch anything else, not even a cold.

The few years we lived in Cleveland, early in my career, went to several Indians games at Municipal Stadium. The radio guys said it would be quicker most nights to announce the names of the fans in the stadium rather than the players.

Haven’t looked at attendance numbers, but even with domes/retractable roofs, I’m just not sure MLB in Florida is viable, even with A/C. Great for Spring Training, but I just can’t imagine going to a game in July or August.

There are times in a game he is fine stepping back. The problem is he has entire games he doesn't look to score. He must get 20. 10 points and 12 assists isn't going to do it.

I heard Magic talking to Stephen A Smith, Magic was saying against the Celtics he couldn't be content with 10 points and 15 assists. The Celtics could score too much to win with that. I think that is Haliburton's issue. He has to score at least 20.
I don't think he's that type of guy and I don't think he needs to be.

Yes, not only is the name stupid, but it's symbolic of something from another sport. Next level bad.
Is is better than to be named after a weather disaster (Avalanche, Hurricane, Cyclone), a pest (Hornets), or a long-extinct style of Dutch trousers (Knickerbockers)?

Chicago Bulls - ok, stockyards. Got it.
Chicago Bears - not anymore but yeah, ok.
Chicago Blackhawks - racist
Chicago Fire - literally, wtf?

The Chicago NBA original team was the Packers and then changed to the Zephyrs in 1962 -1963 before moving to Baltimore.

Saw the Zephyrs play in 1963 before a crowd which had to be less than 100.

In case you were wondering, the tickets for the four of us were free.

Walt Bellamy from IU played for Packers and Zephyrs before becoming an NBA all-star wth the NY Knicks.

Walt Bellamy is one of the top 5 players all-time for IU. Have always felt he gets overlooked.

His rookie year in the NBA with the Wizards in 61-62, he had his career high in PPG (31.6) and RPG (19.1). Averaged 20.1 PPG over his career.

An IU great.

He had 8 and 14 in the two losses against the Knicks. He did score in game 2 against OKC, but not much in the first half when they fell so far behind.

The 3s are nice, but it is that driving floater that forces a help defender to make a choice. If they commit to him, someone else has a shot. To get defenders to commit to him he has to be willing to look like he will score 30. What is the stat, they are 20-1 when he has 20 points and 10 assists. That means they are roughly a .500 team when he does not do that.

Team names that are singular are always stupid

Heat, Thunder, Wild, Avalanche, Magic, Jazz, Lynx, Dream, Mercury, Storm, Fever (sadly), Sky, Sun, Lightning, Kraken...

Their defensive improvement from a year ago is why they now have a legit shot at winning a championship.

Pacers still 6 point underdog going into game four.

So who are you betting on ?

Not much of risk taker, so I'd be reluctant to take the Pacers and six.

What say you?

I have been taking the money line on them for most games in these playoffs. Has obviously worked out. Will probably do again tonight

If they win tonight, I think they win the series. If they lose tonight, I’d give them maybe a 5 percent chance of winning the series.

I’m less confident about tonight than I have been about any other game, though. I think at some point OKC is gonna nut up and play to their talent level.

I hope I’m wrong.

Just turned on the pre-game coverage. Nice Indiana montage with the colleges, Hoosiers, etc. and Mellencamp playing in the background.

Doris Burke caught my eye. @larsIU , she's 60 . . .
