If anyone other than Phinisee transferred, would you cry? This is a poorly recruited team. Turgeon is an awful coach but you can see that he can at least recruit.

Short answer … nope, but Romeo is gone, Morgan is done, and outside of RP, I wouldn't have concern …. can do better

There are a few players that just add nothing. It seems the injuries have destroyed any potential chemistry we could have had and teams have passed us by. So now we just flat suck tits.

I thought this forum adores Archie Miller? What gives?

What part of his statement was a knock on Archie Miller?

He recruited RL, he's elite. He recruited RP, he's really good but hurt. He recruited Hunter, he's really good but OFTS. He recruited Forrester, he was always going to be a project. He recruited Damezi, he was always going to be a bit of a project.

All the others are not his recruits. He did take the Fitzner transfer, but that was a stop gap hope to get something out of him... not a recruit.

If CAM recruited players w playing deficits then, yes, he is responsible.

Can’t put this all on CAM. Gotta give the dude time to recruit and develop his players. He has one recruiting class. I’m just disappointed more of Creans players couldn’t be fixed as quickly as I had hoped. That and the injuries have killed us. It’s painful to watch at times and frustrating as hell.

I’m w you there. I trust CAM to do well, maybe win an NCAA, but this forum is too quick to pull the trigger on CAM on a game lost w so many injuries. Injuries affect practices which, in turn, affect games. I think he gave the game to Romeo in the last minute to win the game. Romeo gave up that one 3 by driving for a 2. Oh, well. We’ll get better if we can mend a couple guys. Thx for the reasoned response, btw.

If we dont make the tournament. That means we would have only made the tournament 4 times in 11 years.

I'm sorry. Any AD at a basketball blue blood that allows that to happen should be dismissed.

I am an infrequent poster and I never played basketball. However, it seems to me that the game, both college and pro has generally evolved to be more about talent than coaching. Witness Lebron and Cleveland. Yes the naysayers will say Duke, KY et al have not won t all every year but in Dukes case I am not sure. How good of a coach is Coach K vs a good recruiter - they consistently have winning records and compete on national level but seems more to do with talent than coaching. Anyways it seems to me that everyone hoping for resurgent of IU glory days must come to grip with the fact that this is ultimately a business and the players seem to control the outcome more than coaching. Yes there are the times when David defeats Goliath and some coaches (e.g. Kansas) lose in spite of their talent you ultimately cant win long term w/o talent. IU does not have the talent it seems. Tonight was an example - McBob and Davis versus Fernando?? Men against boys. Some of our talent is DIII. The only players that can compete at an elite level are Romeo and Morgan. Top it off with we have no tough in your face players that are explicitly competitive leaders. Out players are soft! Nobody has the toughness and confidence to lead assertively. We will see next year when Romeo and Morgan are gone. We should have stepped on the throat of MD in the first half but that is just not the kind of tought arrongant players we have. FITzner????

CAM really only has one class. His first round of recruits were all recruited by Crean and CAM didn’t have much choice but to try to keep them. He either had to try to keep those guys or start recruiting for the incoming ‘17 class in April of ‘17.

He had a choice. He could have let them go and went Grad Transfer heavy. He should have done that his first 2 or 3 years here. He needed to win early. We cant miss the tournament 3 or 4 years in a row. This is getting ridiculous.

Well said!!

What gives is IU only has one top 100 freshman playing, and Maryland has a 5-star guy too, and two more top freshmen who play to go along with a nails senior PG and a beast in Fernando. Unlike Michigan, Maryland actually does have a ton of talent.

IU is young and also injured.

Which school would you want to get a new A.D. from?
