Our good friend & Boiler Jerry Palm at it again

Pretty simple remedy. Even though with an average record beating Meatchicken by 6 TD's, hold Buckeyes under 17, win out big and they'll come begging for the HOOSIERS. Ace in the hole is Indiana fans travel very well and spend $ even better, they need that, always.
If IU were squeaking by these lesser opponents, it would be one thing. But they're not, they annihilating them, all of them.

A great point was made, I think in the Nebraska game. If a team like OSU, or Michigan, or Penn State, were doing what IU is doing, they'd be ranked number 1 in the country, and people would be talking about them as historically one of the best teams in the B10.

IU has earned the added layer of scrutiny from their decades long levels of incompetence. I'm sure its frustrating for Cignetti, who has earned the exact opposite of that. I hope it continues to drive him, and the IU program in positive ways. The first stumble, or misstep with a loss or two, and IU will fall out of focus dramatically. Its a tenuous place they're in. Which is strange, because I don't think there's anything tenuous about how good a program Cignetti/IU have going.

IU's record in the past SHOULD have nothing to do with the present and what this team is doing.
But we all know it does!

It’s funny people continually talk about Indiana’s strength of schedule, but few anre talking about Penn States. PSU’s best win was against an overrated Illinois team that was getting praise for beating Nebraska and UM at the beginning of the season which both turned out to be not so great teams. They needed OT to beat a USC program that is worse than UM. If we are going to compare schedules and results IU is far superior to PSU right now. If PSU had played our schedule and us theirs they would still be ranked ahead of IU and imo would have a better case with our schedule and results.

For sure.

I have to admit, I'm guilty of it as well. There's really nothing anyone could point to, just from watching this team play and watching Michigan play, as an example, that should point to the game being competitive. But even in my brain, they're Michigan, and we're IU. Not sure tangibly what that even means other than Michigan has a much longer leash, and it wouldn't "surprise" me if they played IU tough, or even beat IU on Saturday...when that should actually be literally shocking...based off what both teams have shown on the fields through 9 games.

Further, when IU went down 10-0 against MSU...I wasn't shocked, or pissed, or anything. It was almost a "this feels more normal" type feeling. When, again, that start should have been infuriating.

The only thing that surprises me is that the MSU start has only happened once this year. The only reason that happened is due to two amazing catches by their wideouts on the sidelines. Those catches were likely a one in ten chance of success.

Those two catches certainly contributed to it. But we also started flat. A couple drops, some errant throws by Rourke, very soft coverage, not nearly as much pressure on Chiles. MSU made some incredible plays, but everyone knew their hot shot freshman receiver was capable of that.

2nd quarter on...we didn't allow them any opportunities to make plays like that.

Couldn't agree more. Those catches were incredible. Did you happen to notice Cig taking copious notes during that start? At one point, I told my GF he must be writing a novel. Whatever it was, they found a way to stop that guy the rest of the game. And knocked their QB out of the game. I actually felt a little sorry for their backup. He looked less than enthusiastic about going against IU's fired up D. :)

I've said it before and I'll say it again... The only way to ensure those jokers don't screw us in favor of a "name" school is to win out convincingly...

Start this Saturday and work out from there...
I'm now certain we can do it because we have special teams, a run game, and a defense to help us win when the passing game may be hitting a dry spell and we know that won't last an entire game... This TEAM is the real deal...

Our players are going into games this year thinking they are going to win . Our fans are thinking the same thing . In the past we just hoped we played well , and didn’t get embarrassed. Now there is a new sheriff in town , and it’s time for the Big 10 realized this team is for real .

Even our linebackers? 😉

I was thinking last weekend that the losingest program in NCAA history and the winningest program in NCAA history meet this weekend. It’s a great feeling to be sitting back and licking our chops.

It looked like men vs. boys in the second half. We hurt a lot of players during the game.

This. IU controls its own destiny. Cig gets questioned about whether he will pay attention to the CFP rankings but there is no need. If we win out, we already know where we will be seeded. That is all that matters. Win out, get the 1 seed and leave the in-season debates to the pundits and cfball fans.

Not for too much longer. I believe IU has a 7-loss lead over NW, right?

NW will not be favored in their last 3 games as UM is their "easiest" of the 3. That means we are all but certain to finish between 4-6 loss gap going into next season. If they have another down year, we could proudly hand NW their crown back.
