OSU center out for Saturday

We like to stunt over center. This hurts them. They are down to 2nd and 3rd string across an already thin spot. It was arguably their least honest spot depth wise. Ohio state fans are panicking. Late week adjustments are tough.

So what 4-5 star replaces him ? Just as in most of there other backups.
They are inexperienced and thin at that spot. All their backups are guards. Plus being mid week injury it’s not good. They are now 3 starters down. Ohio st. Fans hitting the panic button. If there was one spot they couldn’t lose it was this one. Both centers are out. RS freshman Padilla is left.

Not exactly. Hinzman who is now playing LG this year because of injury (was set to red shirt) was the starting center last year. They should be okay there. Where it will hurt will be LG.

Was this the transfer from Bama?

Yes...

Funny that Tuberville didn't mention "the" o-h-i-o $tate as someone "who bought themselves a team"...

Day literally bought Alabama's two best players (this C and Downs their FS)...
Ripped the beating heart right out of Alabama by taking those two key guys..., (of course that didn't bother an Auburn man one bit)...

If only it were that simple
Padilla= 4 star
Hinzman= 4 star
Center is a very important position. But I get tired of schools that complain who have recruits and depth like this. Especially this school.

The center left because he was receiving death threats from Bama fans. I doubt he ripped their hearts out. OSU only had 6 players from the portal. Downs and Judkins definitely were huge but most thought Downs was transferring to UGA.

There is no doubt they will have a very talented player replace him, but it greatly affects their continuity as an offense. The C makes all the line calls. Snapping could also be an issue if we can get him rattled. It's not something the 3rd string C and 1st string QB ever practice together. Feel bad for the kid, but anything that helps IU is welcomed.

And from what I’ve read that’s been an issue already. They are now down to redshirt freshman and sophomore 2nd and 3rd string guards trying to play in new positions. It was their thinnest spot.

That helps our d line in the run game a lot.

I'm still worried about their slants and post over the middle. It's their brightest spot on offensive and IUs weakness on defense. If they try and run and throw outside we will drill them.

It will also affect them Saturday if they have another lineman go down.
Not hoping for that of course but it is something to think about.
I’m not like woman OSU fan who a couple years ago at our place yelled ‘break his f***ing leg’ as they sacked our QB.
Classy bunch of fans over there.

There is only an issue if there is another injury. Hinzman will slide back to C and Serivald will probably start at LG. He has started a few games already at RG. They lost the LT against Oregon. After his injury vs Nebraska they started the kid from Indiana who was bad. He got hurt at the end of that game. The following week vs PSU they slid the LG to LT and took the RS off Hinzman and he moved to LG. The issue is depth for them going forward.

I expect West and Kamara will have a very productive day.

That sucks but nobody cut us any slack when it happened to us 2 days before the Michigan game. At least they have a few more practices to get things lined up.

I would expect Fisher and Walker to roam that mid-field area where OSU likes to throw that mid-slant. Wouldn't be surprised if we get a healthy dose of Rolijah Hardy as well. Kid is a good coverage LB for being a Freshman. Not sure how fast he is, but with development, I could see him turn into a Marcelino McCrary-Ball (before injury) like rover/coverage/enforcer.

The biggest thing is being able to get pressure on their QB. If we can get pressure, then we can press their receivers more and limit their ability to hit quick slants. QB pressure can turn this game on its face, real quick.

Putting in a kid who was rated highly as a HS player, especially in the 11th game of the season, isn't just a plug and play. Especially if you're replacing a supposed all-american level center (that's what I read).

I hope that we put guys in the A gaps...maybe blitz, maybe not, just to make their Center and OG think if we are blitzing.
If the game was in Bloomington the crowd noise would definitely be a factor, but at OSU it won't be an issue.
