The original contract was middle of the road in the conference. It was double what Lynch was making. I even went on the local radio lamenting that certain Coordinators were making more than Lynch was making before they hired Wilson.
As the duration of the contract went on, it ended up being 13th out of 14; and Flood just got fired. Heck, even a 6 win Purdue coach is/was making more than Wilson.
So, I think this is a fair contract. Yes, I think 4 might have been sufficient, but 6 does show the commitment that IU is making.
Critics may scoff, but Fred Glass knew it had to be built, there were no shortcuts. IU is elevating talent and is not backing out when Ohio State or Michigan come calling. (The classic Lee Corso story comes to mind when he would have his annual lunch with Woody Hayes....that's for another post)
