Trickle down is basically saying this. If you let people keep their own money they will do something with it. When they do something with it it is either spending or investing. Everybody wins when this is done because it is all about economic activity. If government gets more of the money then economic activity does not get spurred on. OK, enough politics on a basketball thread for me. I am out of that talk.

Bruce Pearl is one of the best coaches in the game. I’d fully support hiring him.
If the AD is concerned about compliance, stick him with a dedicated compliance guy - an Athletic Dept “liaison” (aka spy). Problem solved.
Bruce would win here. I am very confident of that. But that’s just not the kind of culture we have anymore.
Unfortunately since IU hasn’t made a good basketball coach hire since the 1970’s I will be keeping my cash. Just a pitiful performance. I do like the recruits coming in next year. But I’m sick of tired of seeing IU teams with no heart or passion.

Alford would do very well at IU, he certainly is a better coach than anyone since Knight
Have you been paying attention at all to the NCAA lately? No big programs are getting put on probation anymore. Just lawyer up and the ncaa won't do crap. IU needs to decide if it wants to truly play for championships anymore.
Pearl has won 4 conference titles at programs with very little basketball history in a power 5 conference. Went to a final 4 last year. Has his team 21-2 currently. Also tied for first in the SEC which could end up meaning his third straight season with an sec regular season title or tournament title. Has beat Kentucky 4 times in the last 3 years. You are right though. IU is definitely doing much better than that.
IU isn't a big program anymore, Pearl is on the ncaa radar. IU would get hammered severely with Pearl
Pearl cheats, but he is not a better fit than alford. Sampson 2.0 is not a good idea.
LOL if he was on the radar he wouldn't still be rolling now. Your thinking is why IU is not going to win at the highest level anytime soon. We just aren't willing to compete. No one winning or competing for titles in football or basketball in the NCAA now is completely clean.
Yes Pearl does. 583-219 and took a football school to final four last year. Alford couldn’t win at UCLA!
What's been destroying IU's program is not staying up with the times. Alford bombed at UCLA. A program that has tons of talent just within 15-20 minutes of its campus. Why do you think he would be good at IU?
Knight leaving wrecked the program. Some player he coached isnt going to fix it unless they are a great coach. Remember Danny D? Alford has proved he sucks as a coach. Just like Danny.

I think Pearl would come to IU if he knew IU was willing to compete like Kentucky, Duke, UNC and Kansas are. IU isn't willing to wade into those waters though. IU just isn't willing to do what it takes to win at the highest levels now.
Straight poverty rate is misleading. Cost of living is way different in Mississippi than California. The supplemental poverty measure shown on the same page is more indicative, takes into account cost of living, taxes and govt assistance programs. After the territories, California and D.C have the highest poverty, Iowa, North Dakota and Wyoming the lowest. **edit: oooops shoulda went to the cooler, sorry***
