Offering $5K to women who have kids is an absolutely fantastic idea!

Something extremely dark and twisted about the antinatalism wing of the Democratic Party. Second thread started on this subject in as many days.

They look at humans as viruses on the planet or burdens on society or something.

I recommend UTFO go first.

In this rare (exceedingly) instance - UTFO is right. This is a terrible idea. This is akin to the abuse in the foster system where shite people basically foster as many kids as they can increase the gubmint money coming in to “support” them.

Make the child tax breaks/credit larger. Protect maternity leave in companies. Do something that rewards having babies without moral hazard behind it.

The problem though is overly judicious, financially stable couples putting off having kids and worried about sacrificing their lifestyle.

There are already a plethora of moral hazards that incentive kids being born into poverty.

Trump cures cancer. UTF- trump is the worst person in the world.

But I am more than fine with all the far left wing white single women not having kids.
I’ll tell you this tho. Our time is up. I spent all day yesterday hanging in tight quarters with a dozen nurses. Their favorite season of Ted lasso. Season 3. Not even close. They love woke

AOC will be the face of the Dems. Our time is OVER!!!

Require that the woman be married to be eligible too. I do like policies that promote family, and I also don't like the idea of promoting women to have kids for a $5,000 pay off.

I don't have an answer for how, but make childcare more affordable. It is a legitimate crisis. Indiana has one of the worst shortages/cost issues with childcare:

In 39 states, it costs more than college.

Simple economics. More two income households, or worse single income single parent households, drives up demand for childcare and associated costs. Elizabeth Warren knew this in 2004.

Middle had twins at Thanksgiving. Going from 1 in daycare to 3 has been costly. Let's just say the twins go to a less prestigious setup, but it still costs a fortune. Good for her that she and her hubby make far more than her mom and I did back in the day.

it definitely sucks but it is a problme with a shelf life. they get to school where it can be largely free

OK, if you view that as a problem, what is the solution?
It’s not my view of the problem, it’s Warren’s. The book is a relic from back when she had a brain in her head. Of course her diagnosis is correct but her prescription is as flawed as yours likely is. More government $$& (which will only inflate childcare expenses further).

Simply put. Less two income household, or one parent who’s work is flexible enough to prove regular childcare.

The analysis shows that the hidden expenses of two incomes more often than not make increase in income negligible for most middle class families.

Above the child tax credit?

How about...

Doubling the Child Tax Credit, but put some provisions in the code:

-Neither dependent, nor parents/mom, can have been convicted of a felony in the last 3-5 years
-School age dependents must provide proof of schooling
-Parents must either have proof of employment, OR proof of community volunteering

A family with 5 kids could get a roughly 70-80K tax credit...but that would have to imply 6-7 law abiding citizens, 5 kids working to become better educated, and parents that are either activly working, and/or involved in helping better their community.

About 53% are dual earners in the US. That is less than Europe and Japan. The US is about 1/2 way down the OECD list. Given we are already seeing worker shortages, can we afford that many fewer workers?

There is a sickness metastasizing underneath worker shortages and the useless # often referred to as the unemployment rate.

Which is 9 million, prime working age males who have for one reason or another dropped out of the labor market.

that doesn't really negate his point.
How many poor kids today who are alive when vote for not being born? I just believe it is a bad thinking process. The bottom line is without having many more kids the U.S. will go the way of Japan. They are losing their culture over there because their men are having sex with robots.

There is a problem there, but it may be less than what it appears.

If you read that, it appears in the surveys many gig workers are neither counting themselves as employed nor looking for work.

It’s clear to researchers that updating the CPS to better count informal work needs to happen, but there’s a wrinkle: One reason the survey is undercounting gig work is because gig workers sometime aren’t counting themselves. Many don’t describe themselves as employed in the survey.
Burke says there are several possible reasons for that. Some are retired and consider themselves out of the workforce, even though they’re not.
Others are entrepreneurs using gig work to support themselves while they get their primary venture off the ground.
And some see it as a hobby, or “just for fun.”
MARY BURKE:
Or maybe they know that they're working, but they're like, “This isn't a real job.”
This goes to the minimum wage issue in a way. It is often portrayed that fast food is the domain of teenagers. That isn't true. FF typically does not require drug testing. So, those jobs are often held by people unable to work for Univee for that reason. I suspect that can explain this some too, Uber and Lyft only require tests after an accident on the job. So many people with an issue that can't get many jobs because of the test may well be gig, and may not be correctly reporting it.

Still, it would be great to get everyone into the job market. I don't know how removing people from the job market will get them to join back in.

The poorer you are, the more the $5k incentive means to you.

Ready to increase the amount of people on welfare in order to increase the population?

Maybe a better idea would be an immigration system that makes more sense and easier to navigate. More than one way to increase population

Culture loss due to robot sex?
That seems legit Van.

I was worried robots were coming for our jobs. Now I have to worry about culture too. You give a guy a lot to ponder.

This is hilarious. I go to Japan minimum once per year for work and I’ve never seen nor heard of dudes banging robots.

Where do you come up with this stuff? Leviticus?

What about surrogates? I could see a case for both receiving the $5,000.

People have fewer kids or no kids because childcare costs can be almost as high as a mortgage.

People have fewer kids or no kids because of infertility issues, with treatments that insurance companies fight not to cover. One round of treatment can run upwards of $50,000—just for a single ovulation cycle, paid entirely out of pocket. Try to fight insurance denials, you're told there is a “medical alternative”: don’t have a baby.

People have fewer kids because they find out after the first one that there's minimal paid maternity leave and you're instructed to use up your sick days then bounce back as if nothing had happened.

Fix some of these underlying causative issues. Don't just pass out free cheese to avoid the true reasons for the problem.

Wrong. In the wealthiest society in the history of the world you want to tell us all with a straight face that people don’t have kids because they can’t afford it.

That dog sure won’t hunt.

Don’t blow smoke up my ass and tell me it’s raining.
