Of course we get the Zags

Excited National Lampoons Vacation GIF
That will be the feeling at halftime. Then when Few makes his adjustments and Gonzaga outscores IU 49-26 in the 2nd half, total moose treatment. *Sorry folks

Does anyone else see playing the Zags as a win-win situation? It’s a tough matchup, sure, but it’s a great chance to improve our non-conference metrics. And if we get embarrassed again, it just adds another data point for the Board of Trustees in the offseason—perfect for ensuring this season is Woody's farewell tour.

This will undoubtedly be his farewell tour, I'm nearly certain of that.

Yesterday was that bad.

I think we'll play a lot better -- how could we not? Not sure we have what it takes to beat Gonzaga over 40 minutes.

I doesn't matter much. It's been clear for a while we aren't going to do well with Woodson at the helm.

Absolutely. I was going to come and post, this is actually the best possible game after losing the first. We came into this knowing this was our only chance to get a "big" win in the precon and now we have a chance to beat a top 10 team. After yesterday, anything is (again) possible with this team and the total lack of effort they showed. But, this is the best possible opportunity after losing the first game.

We will see today what our guys are made of. They were embarrassed yesterday after having all their fans travel amidst all the hype. If we're a real team, we make it rough on Gonzaga today. Another 28 point loss, and I think we all know what it means: no tourney, Woodson done.

I'm not ready to completely throw in the towel on the season, but, man...I can't believe our guards are somehow worse?!

Yogi Ferrell was our last quality guard, it seems.

That’s the thing we for sure can compete with anyone. Just need a little guidance from the bench. I’m sure we will see games where they are dialed in this year, hopefully it is when it actually matters. Tomorrow would be nice.
Last 4 neutral site games (ie when it matters) have all been losses by 20 points or more.

At least we know them boys will play hard!
I never said they would be able to play basketball while playing hard. You don’t think gallo was playing hard? Malik? Rice? They just all were like Tasmanian devils. Hell, Galloway reminded me of the out of control kid going down the blacks on the mountain.

if i'm a player, i'm glad we get a quick turnaround v a top 10 team...gives me a chance to prove the last game was an aberration.
Right. I mean have some pride. Get mad. We have some dogs on the team.

If they lay another egg Mike might legit get left in Nassau.

They were embarrassed yesterday
Are we sure they were? With the talent we had and they way we played, I question that at this point. That team shouldn't have lost to anyone that way yesterday. The opponent doesn't matter, we had to quit to lose like that.

It's happened way too often across Woody's tenure and there's really only one common thread. I actually started to take the time to try and go back and check how many 20 pt + losses Woody had in his playing career versus what he's seen in the same coaching tenure. My count was he's had 7 as a coach and had 3 in his IU tenure. Think he's still short the rest of this season, but then he also had that period where he was hurt and I'd guess 1 of those playing losses was when he went down his senior year. The other thing that struck me was how much better our schedule was then. I'd guess we averaged 6+ games vs top 10 opponents and 12+ versus ranked opponents.

we do? I don't think so. Short of Goode, I didn't see anyone that appeared that bothered by how we played. Certainly not enough to get in there and do something about it, or get in his teammates faces to challenge them. We'll find out today.

I've already pointed this out but IU is neither quick or overly athletic. They don't have a TJD with explosive jumping ability to play above the rim. They have to be fundamentaly sound on both ends. So far, they don't have that either. In fact, theyve been the opposite. Who is fundamentally sound? Gonzaga.

Malik was pissed. Saw him going nuts a few times.

Rice and kanaan have it in them but were cross eyed yesterday. Need someone to whip their ass Bobby style. Wake em up.

Maybe, but we still have enough talent to beat anyone. Just need to have a little more fight tomorrow.
Having a little more fight and playing hard should not be a problem. After all, I have read on these various posts the last few weeks how Woody’s teams always play hard…

I personally haven’t witnessed this, but it has been said.

Rice is as quick with the ball as anyone since Yogi. Carlyle is fine athletically and gotten after it at times. Mbako and Tucker are fine athletically. No excuses there, imo.
