It's clear that the bookies think Briggs (their NT) will dominate our man Murphy in his 2nd collegiate start at Center and allow the Cinci D to get pressure on Baz with as few as 3 rushers... Adding their LB Pace as a blitzer coupled with two deep Safeties and they figure they'll pick off his pressured overthrows... They have a CB in Bush who's projected as a probable 2nd round pick this spring so that's one of our WR's probably having been taken out of the equation...

There are multiple counters to the above so I expect our Offensive attack to evolve into a bit of a Grandmaster level coaching Chess match where we will get to watch Bell really earn his salary...

Their Offense will attempt to do to us exactly what we would hope to do to them: establish the run and force our Safeties to cheat up tighter in support and then take the top off of the secondary with the deep ball... They have the athletes to do it...

Expect to see the Flea-Flicker again at least once until we prove we can properly defend it... We'll probably see at least one or two other trick plays too since we've given up substantial yardage to them in the past... This time I'd Love to see us Take the Ball Away from them on one or two of those plays... Thats the only way to put a stop to that type of thing...

This is where Allen needs to have stepped up during this past week and have earned his salary by getting our Defense back to playing up to its capabilities...

Our secondary, once considered the strength of this Defense needs to relearn both their coverage and tackling technique and play up to their true ability...

Tom Allen the coach who was once considered one of the finest Defensive Coordinators in the country needs to get his game back and pronto, otherwise we'll be in for a looonnnggg afternoon...

Obviously, per my 31 - 3 score prediction, I think Bell and Allen will win their respective battles of wits and put our guys in a position to excel... Hopefully it'll be fun watching how it all shakes out...

They're good...; I think we're better... They'll be some early highs and lows but once we get in our groove I think we'll find a way to put these cats in a bag they can't get out of...

IU has a 3-0 cushion. There's no pressure as most think we'll get smashed. Colin Cowturd said we lose by at least 3 TDs.

In the end, this is still Cincy...a mid-major. We know we beat them last year when we were worse than we are now. They lost to Arkansas who almost lost to Missouri State last week. IU isn't as big of an underdog as they have made us....but we can use that to our advantage.

How we handle Briggs (their NT) and Pace (their LB) are the keys to the game... Solve that puzzle and we're off to the races...

I don't think they're overrated..., I think we're underrated...

I’m hoping someone other than Murphy is starting at center tomorrow. Him stepping up in a difficult situation made for a good story, but the truth is he struggled mightily last Saturday. He got bulrushed several times including the sack in OT. And now that that is on tape, he would get a lot more of that. Murphy can be a good player in time, but he is not physically ready.

They'll give him help but when they do Pace will attempt to blitz the gap on the backside of whichever G is helping on the double team... There are still remedies to that but Baz will have to find the hot reciever in about 1.45 seconds...

Screens, Traps, delayed hand offs with the back hitting the hole opposite of where the blitzer is coming, shortened "hot" routes and even Baz himself just keeping it and heading to the vacated area(s), or just keeping the back in to block the blitzer and working the vacated area with drag routes..., will make them think twice about how they're going to attack us if we execute what's available to us... Should be fun to watch...

The Hoosiers victory against Illinois was a function of a couple of Illinois shanked punts in the first half, a blown defensive coverage in a long pass play and Illinois playing prevent victory defense in the last 3 minutes that was inexplicable. But the Hoosiers battled and earned their victory over Illinois and the Hoosiers were 1 and 0.

I can't explain the ebbs and flows of the Idaho game. If not for the third quarter there would be calls for Tom Allen to be replaced.

Against Western Kentucky, once again the Hoosiers did enough to win the game. Thanks to the Western Kentucky kicker shanking a field goal on the last play of regulation the Hoosiers are going into Cincinnati with three wins and no losses

Based on a 17-point spread I have to think that I am somewhat wearing rose colored glasses. I really hope the players prove me wrong.

I always appreciate your optimism.
I was impressed with the article that said they could get pressure with only a 3 man rush. Rushing Conner will create erratic throws.

Well if Carpenter is really back out there at Center maybe that won't be the case... I typed that with the thought that Murphy would be starting his 2nd Football game in 4 years today against one of the better NT's in the country... Hopefully Carpenter really is healthy and has a enough strength and technique to counter what Cincinnati will attempt to do to him...

Either way, Baz doesn't appear to be the type to get "rattled" so I'm comfortable with the idea that he and Bell will find a way to work thru whatever adversity may come up (and you can be certain they'll be some)...

By the way..., what's not to be optimistic about? 😉😎 -

We've found a way to Win every game we've been in so far and haven't wilted in the face of seemingly dire circumstances each time... In my opinion, those types of confidence building Wins will pay off Big Time for us at some point when the margin for error gets ever slimmer as we progress thru this difficult schedule... 🍺

**I hoping today's 3:30 pm start time is our Goldilocks niche (we seemed to struggle with early and late starts) and everything will be "Just Right" for us this afternoon... 😎🇺🇸🍺**

This is our first road game of the year. One of the things I like is this is a short trip which I assume was done by Bus rather than Plane which is probably less stressful for everyone. Hopefully, We won't have that Deer in the headlights look as the game starts

We have to be involved in this one early. We can't give up cheap points and get down by two touchdowns before We pick up ,our initial first down.

So far Bazelak has left too many plays on the field. He needs to be more accurate and make plays when the opportunity presents itself. .

Per the "other" site, Carpenter is listed as the starter at Center today... Hopefully that's a very good thing... He'll be playing in front of his hometown so here's hoping the Pride Factor kicks in and gives him an edge...

Thank God cowturd said that. A Blessing. I remember back in 05 when the baseball playoffs started and he dismissed the White Sox as who are they? They went on to lose only one playoff game and smoke everyone!

That said I, along with all of you do not want this ride to end. Its like freakin Christmas morning right now. We are still undefeated and fully capable of beating cinci. IDK why everyone thinks cinci is so good. Last year our expectations were every bit as high as theirs. Now a year later we are a 3 score underdog WTF??? We have more capable playmakers this year than we did last year. This adventure needs to keep going its too much fun.

TA noted on his radio show that the team is going by bus, yes.

Certainly hope the staff has the team in the same mindset you do, and I think this is very reasonable. Our secondaty needs get their mojo back and fast.

That mid major sent 9 to the nfl in the last draft

I hear you. Last year the margin was 14 I think and that was with McFadden getting hosed. They aren't as good this year and IU is improved. I mean heck they aren't even ranked unless you go by SP+ which is still biased toward last year. Do we think Cincy is much better than Illinois, if at all? Idk, I'm not convinced. The 16.5 spread seems distorted. All that said Indiana will need their best game of the season to pull this one off. Cincy isn't flashy but they are sneaky efficient.

The "mid-major" label is silly when it comes to your program. You guys were in the CFP last year, you have one of the best coaches in college football, you're better than many P5 programs, and you're headed to the Big 12 in 2023.

Won't say it can't happen, but an IU win today would be a huge upset.

I agree about Illinois. That was a tough, hard nosed, football game. We aren't going to play many teams as physical as Illinois. They are a tough football team as was WKU who were 10-1 thier last 11 coming into Bloomington. As long as we don't beat ourselves we should be in the driver's seat today.

Cincy has 17 points with 4 first downs. Setting up to be a route. CTA is not the short or long term answer. That said, I don’t think it matters who IU’s FB coach. Team always sucks.

Would the real Slim Shady please stand up, please stand up! I am sorry I say the real Tom Allen has stood up 🤭

Yeah, we are more of a mid major than u guys at this time.
Truthfully, neither program is mid-major and it's pretty stupid and ignorant to use that label. Indiana is in the B1G and Cincinnati made the CFP and are headed to the Big 12. In actuality this a battle of two P5 programs.

It’s still early. Just can’t let these two quick strikes depress everybody.

That said, UC has a good program and a great coach. Fickell would be a great coach at IU but it will never happen. If he were to ever leave UC it would be for OSU and that’s not going to be open for a long time. Notre Dame would be a good fit depending upon how long Marcus Freeman is given. It’s unfortunate that IU can’t get in the picture for a coach of Fickell’s ability.

And that's what I would expect from a fan who relies on their conference in order to be "big time" to say.
You dipwads wouldn't have been anywhere last year playing in a p5 conference. Smh. Another ucf "think" they have cred team. Joke

Uhhh ohhh what happened

Calm down and get your emotions in check. It's just a game.
Nippert is actually not as loud as I’ve seen for other games. The energy is kinda there, but something is missing.

I know what it is - Nip at Night. Lol.

seriously, this game will not be a blowout.
