Non-Con Schedule

I think we're fine next year. We've got road games a Oregon and PSU, I don't see any reason they will be down (such as a coaching change). At Iowa not easy either.

I suspect this year was a rare situation -- we had the two title game teams from the year before and they were both down after coaching changes and didn't help much with SOS. That won't happen often.

Also I think we'll be good next year, but how good I have no idea. We may need some tune-up games, and some of our non-cons aren't as bad as they look.

WAY too much is being made out of our schedule IMHO. Historically we've had one of the tougher schedules in the country. We got a bit of a break this year in MI & WA being down. That's not always going to be the case and the BIG should offer us plenty of opportunities to prove ourselves. Yes, I don't want to see us having W. IL on the schedule in the future, but just put another respectable team in there and we'll be fine as long as CIG is at the helm.

Indiana State should just cancel that game against us! They should become a D2-3 team after getting assrammed by a pathetic Purdoo team 49-0!

Yeah, our conference schedule I think is harder than this year. Illinois, Iowa, psu, and Oregon are all likely bowl teams next year. I want to say msu will be as well. Tino running uclas offense will be interesting as they could be a bowl team too. So, I think our conference schedule is tough enough to compensate for the ooc. As long as we don’t drop more than one game which will have to be psu or Oregon I think we will be in the conversation for cfp again.

Can anything be done to upgrade this? We will get slammed for this.

We've been through this multiple times on here but I'll walk you through it as best I can one more time...

Go check the schedules of other well known FBS schools and you'll find that they're littered with the proverbial "cupcakes"...

They schedule like that in order to make it easier to continually be Bowl eligible (they only have to win 3 tough games instead of 5 or 6); to allow nearly their entire roster to see playing time early; for their Team to actually become a TEAM before taking on the other big time programs; and to lower the early wear and tear factor, thus going into the meat of their schedule much healthier as a Team than if they had played near peers early...

Thankfully we finally have an AD who's smart enough to grasp the above and schedule like the big boys do...

Our game against Notre Dame in the opening round of the CFP is solid proof that this type of scheduling works..., to change it would be foolish in the extreme in my opinion...
