Yeah, I think 247 posted it too early and tried to take it down.
Hold up…post got taken down. Still confident he did though.

Dang, hope so. Liked this item I found just googling, about draft prospects:

6’3” senior guard Tayton Conerway is an interesting sleeper. He’s an awesome offensive rebounder for a guard (7.1 ORB%), a great passer (35.6 AST%), and an unbelievable defensive playmaker (5.9 STL%, 1.6 BLK%). He might be the best dig-guy in college hoops. He’s elite at sneaking up behind guys, whether it be an inattentive ball handler on the perimeter or a big man who doesn’t anticipate Conerway getting ready to swat his shot. The wart on his record is his 27.9% mark from distance and a sub-70 free-throw percentage. Ultimately, Rigsby and Conerway embody what Troy has built—a team full of dudes who love to ruin your day.

Overton would be nice and he can text his Texas Tech buddy Williams how great it is at IU. Hope the coach saves a spot for when Darrion williams withdraws from the NBA draft.
Overton is a winner and the type of kid DeVries wants on his teams. Texas Tech could have easily made the F4 and who knows then.

Well from film Conerway seems like high percentage shooter---all layups. But at least he finishes more than 90% of last year's IU team did.

Wow...this dude is the boss. But I'll give us all something to worry about. He has also declared for the NBA draft. While maintaining his college eligibility. I would think NIL would be his best option right now, so he can work on his shooting.........
Quite a few players do this not in hopes of getting drafted but to understand what they need to work on.

Conerway is not official yet but I am very confident he will be a Hoosier.

I think IU is going to land Tayton Conerway. In addition, I expect Jasai Miles (North Florida, 6'6" wing, two years eligibility remaining) to be a Hoosier in the near future as well.

I've "heard" Miles wasn't all that good defensively at NFlorida. Any more numbers or insight on that? Obviously the size is intriguing.

That is a fair statement. Miles was not good a defensive player for North Florida. Context on that, no one was good defensively for North Florida. They played a very quick tempo that focused on offense and there appeared to be very little interest paid to the defensive end. No player for the Ospreys posted a positive Defensive Bayesian Performance Rating (DBPR). So, is Miles a bad defensive player OR was Miles on a team that did not place an emphasis on defense and he can improve? It's a legitimate concern. If IU lands Miles, the two years of eligibility is good, the slashing ability is good, the perimeter shooting is good, the rebounding numbers (which typically translate to higher-levels) are good, his size is pretty good. He has good physical attributes that lead me to believe he could be an adequate defender.

I do think it will be important to land proven defensive players (Tayton Conerway would be a great start to that) on the perimeter and especially a rim-protector or two.

There's a prediction of Miles to IU on 247. fwiw.

Thanks for the info. One concern I have...kinda need some guys that are really good on BOTH ends of the floor. IF Wilkerson, Miles, DeVries, and Bailey are all subpar defensively... having other guys on the roster that are good defensively will be nice, but you can only play 5 of them at a time.

I don't consider Tucker DeVries to be subpar defensively. I actually think he can defend most 4s pretty well. His DBPR at WVU last season was 1.83 and it was 1.24 at Drake in 2023-2024. That's average to above-average. I would not want him consistently having to defend quick players on the perimeter but I don't expect him to get placed into that role all that often. Reed Bailey is mostly in the same boat...he's more in the "average" camp but he's not bad. He can't be asked to be a rim protector for 30 minutes a night or bang against Jaxson Koehler or whichever giant Purdue has in the middle at the time but other teams have to deal with him on the other end and there's not a whole lot of centers that I'd worry about just dominating him in the post.

I agree with you...finding really good two-way players is ideal but there are not a whole lot of those in the portal. The current roster certainly skews towards a better offensive team than a defensive one but there are plenty of pieces to add and I'd prefer a focus on offensively skilled players first, fill in some good defenders and then teach a good system to minimize whatever defensive issues remain.

Any info or thoughts on Conerway visiting TCU? That surprising...always gonna happen...?

I read he lives close to there and that’s where he practices. It’s not a visit.

Admittedly I didn’t double check this claim, so I could be wrong.

What was DeVries working with at WVU last season? That team played defense really well. Did he have + defenders or did he with scheme and teaching mold them to be + defenders?

Well we already have 2 6'7" guys and a 6'10" guy. Thats 3 out of the 5 committs we have so far so i dont think this is very acurate!
Still need a big center and a 6'8 or 6'9 beefy pf. A 6'10-7'0 center. Then another shooter like Oregon. St. guy ot the TT guy Overton maybe. should be 6 more unless we take a HS guy or two. I'd like Nyk Lewis PG.
