Listening to podcast and they were talking about the next 8 conference games and it is brutal. They stated if we can go 4-4 it would be a good run. What do you think would be considered a good record for these?

5-3

Illinois W

at Michigan L

at Maryland L

Nebraska W

at Purdue W

at Northwestern W

Michigan L

at Rutgers W

Why is that brutal?
Michigan is only higher ranked team, and Nebraska is only other team in top 25?
Didn't say it was. Every game is winnable except for the game in Ann Arbor. That being said, we'll likely drop a few on the basis of being a young team that still doesn't nail outside shots consistently.

We play Michigan twice, 3 other road games, and Nebrask at home.... sounds tough to me
A little I guess, but then Id argue that any Power 5 team has stretches similar all year long long.
With the exception of Michigan, I dont see the brutality of that set...No Ohio St, No Mich St, getting Neb at home...

That's quite a mix of challenging games there. Typically, looking at that list, outside Illinois I would think Northwestern would be an expected "W". However, IU only squeaked by them when they played in Assembly Hall.

5 of the first 8 are on the road and 6 of the first 9. It could be rough. We will get a good idea of where they are as a team by early February. Must win at home and try to find success on the road.

2-6

We beat Nebraska and Rutgers, and lose the rest.
We'll revisit this thread in a few weeks, will you still be here?

You think we're losing to this Illinois team at home? Have you even watched Purdue? 5-3, 4-4 at worst.

Definitely a troll.

It’s really hard to win at Purdue, even with the decrease in their talent. But I think we can beat Michigan at IU. The wildcard in this bunch could very well be the game at Northwestern. A toss up.

Yeah those were the 2 games I had circled as tossups. I would be perfectly fine with a split there.

I also think we're just a better team than Northwestern, we played awful at home and still pulled off the win. This is predicated on the fact that we continue to improve, we're due for a lot of improvement as the season wears on.

Don’t go by the rankings. Road games in the B1G are brutal. If you’ve been watching these teams during the pre-conference, you can see that most of them will be highly competitive, especially when trying to hold their own court. The good news is if we can get through January in pretty good shape, we have a very friendly backend to the schedule that could set us up for a top 4 finish.

5-3 or 4-4.

Getting a win in one of the first two road games would be really great but it seems unlikely.

4 - 4 At best.
This is a decent IU team.
Not a great one. .
That said. I've been spending fairly big cash to go and support them at Assembly Hall..
I honestly think it we get Brooks and keep him and TJD for two years. The 2020/2021 team will be better than this one.. jmo

Without Morgan & Romeo..
Crazy talk..Morgan means almost everything to this team..
Romeo staying is a much longer shot. Than when Cody stayed..
We'll see ..I've been wrong before.

The core of the team (along with Thompson/Hunter coming back from injury) will get a year older and improve. The recruiting class will easily be top 10 with two 5* players coming in along With Franklin. Davis will be a senior ect..we will be loaded on the wing and in the post.

A lineup of

Phinisee/Franklin
Green/Durham/Anderson
Brooks/Hunter
TJD/Smith/Thompson
Davis/Moore/Forrester

Will be as big, long, and talented as any team in the Big10. Not to mention the athleticism, good lord. Not quite UK from a few years ago but still pretty damn good.

The great thing is nobody will expect it, Archie takes home his first COY next year. Book it.

It will take time to figure out how to score, but they will have options and the defense should continue to be a constant. The thing that is exciting is RP being a year older. When you have a PG that makes others better and surround them with talented players, you have a shot to be very good.

You're right. We probably win the Illinois game. For some reason I thought that game was on the road. As for the Purdue game... well, we barely beat Penn St by 2 points, and they're worse than Purdue, and it's a big rivalry game, so I expect Purdue to bring their best.

So I change my prediction to 3-5.

Lol we will sweep Illinois they're as bad as Rutgers. Let's revisit this thread in a few months. You will be nowhere to be found.

If you go by Sagarin, Kenpom and TeamRankings, it seems like 4-4 would be the most likely outcome. It probably wouldn't be as bad as it might seem to go 3-5. I'm guessing 5-3 or better myself, but it looks like that would be an accomplishment.

The Big Ten should be a fun league to follow this season!

Last season, if I recall correctly, Illinois was in last place in the conference when we played them on the road, and everyone was certain we'd win, but we lost.

That's because we sucked last year. You don't think this team's better than that one?

I think this team is better, but not a whole lot better.
Seriously? This team is much better than the team that was out there last year. They're thumping the teams that should be thumped instead of letting them stick around to keep it close or even getting beat.

By the way, 10 games out is way too far to make real predictions.

There will be injuries on various teams in that time. Possibly departures or academic issues. Just too far really.
