Newton!

I'm rooting for him, Strong commitment to Hoosiers, worked hard on bench, gym and classroom ad he used a year to heal up, and hoping he does. My kind of hoosier. Hope it works for him, and US.
He is the kinda guy that didn't give a shit who we recruited, he believes in himself and that he will get on the court. Man I want him to excel. I think I am most excited to see him.

I heard or read that Jakai and UConn's Stephen Castle were teammates.

Didn't happen to mention if this was in HS or just in AAU.

Anybody know?

Curious, if it was in HS, what their Junior Year stat line comparison was like.

Newton HS teammates.

From the respective university team bios:

SC = As a junior, he averaged 16.6 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists and was named the Region 4 Class 7A Player of the Year

JN = averaged 14.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game as a junior

I thought Newton was a sleeper last season. Explosive athlete who competed with and against guys like Castle and Collier in high school and more than held his own. Underrated shooter, could be a great defender, the body of a grown man, hard worker, and a guy who could come in and push some of these transfers to the bench if they don't put in the effort.

He was a fringe top 50 kid prior to his injury. Has every tool imaginable to be a high level basketball player for this university. Staying the course and obviously staying healthy this year are priorities #1 and 2. He'll get his chance one day,

Tremendous young man. I've watched him workout a couple of times. Currently he has identical measureables to Donovan Mitchell. 6'10" wingspan. Maybe 6'3" 215 in shoes. At one time Carlyle was the number 6 player in Georgia and he was number 5. Overtime elite players always get a ranking exaggeration over public school kids. Then after the second injury he dropped to 7th and Carlyle finished 4th. He's one of those freaky physical athletes that can look at weights and put on 20lbs of muscle. He's a pwr combo guard that can change games defensively. Next year he could be penciled into a starting roll easily. Right now he's good. The concern isn't injury during common basketball plays. He's not injury prone. It's more about strengthening support tissue and getting over the psychological part. He's one of 4 new exceptional perimeter defenders we didn't have last year to add to Galloway. The number of 3pt attempts by our opponent will be cut in half.

For sure up around 12 feet, which is insane.
Yes the tiles do look like a two foot scale. An an inches above the rim setup would seem typical. Even if it’s only 11’ … it couldn’t have been done on a bum knee.

More importantly, the quads look evenly developed, which says he should be a full time summer activity participant.

And a great character kid. His mom seems like a great person too.
