New Season, New Team

agree completely. Recruiting is starting to gain momentum. 1-2 quality bigs for next yr's class and we are looking very good for next 5 yrs. So turning the corner this coming season and putting together a respectable season is of utmost importance. This yr's team has some depth and balance. Team chemistry will be the difference maker. Good outside shooting and making FTs won't hurt either.

Shooting is on the way in 2020. All 3 current 2020 recruits can shoot, Galloway, Leal, Geronimo. Archie is recruiting his type of players now!

There is a pitiful group (see sig below) that are really feeling silly about this recruiting season. Every point they hung onto- Archie and IU is losing recruiting momentum, Archie is not appealing to players, Archie cannot recruit outstate- has been proven wrong.

Archie is really addressing the SG/wing needs this year, bringing in solid players that can shoot at that position. It will be interesting who that 4th player will be, should IU choose to use it in 2020.

with the signing of Geronimo, IU's 2020 class (at least on Rivals' page) now ranks 12th nationally. Put another way, for the moment....IU's 2020 class is the highest ranked class in the B1G conference. Obviously, subject to change with more signings (or other sites) but still...yeah the doubters are much quieter today.

Actually another window on Rivals has us up to #7 now. Either way, the past few months (these three signings, Brunk transfer, Hunter news) have been very good news.

One more top 100 4 or 5 star will move IU's recruiting into the top 5. Galloway and Leal may both move up in the rankings more too. They're all risers.

I saw our class referenced as #4 today although rankings can change depending on class size and new recruits committing every day.. A 6 person recruiting class can rank higher, but having 6 freshman doesn't make your team better than adding 3 players to an experienced team.

I like the type of player Archie is recruiting and how each one is a position of need. A big would be nice, but we could wait for 2021 if it meant we got the players we are targeting. In this area, I trust Archie to build a good and sustained roster.

I agree about the recruiting. He knows the players he needs to fill every position. I'm real optimistic about this team over the next few years. I see B1G and NCAA title contenders in our future.

Ncaa ttle contenders? Wow after 30 years I guess we found the right guy. I guess my prediction of 18 wins may be way off.

I said over the next few years and I think we're on track for that. I'm very optimistic due to Archie's focused and solid recruiting and because I watched him coach at UD. He's an excellent coach.

I would take challenging in the big ten. The big ten has not won a national title in 20 years. It is incredibly hard and takes alot of luck but a magical run can happen.

IU needs to land an impact freshman. The current 2020 recruits aren’t going to be major impact players until year two or three. Recruiting rankings are very premature. Many uncommitted players out there.

That is correct but it does not look like it is going to happen. I think the way we are recruiting we can be a wisconsin type program in a few years. Not sure we will ever be like michigan state but they have decades of success to recruit on.

I'm not sure Michigan State will ever be like Indiana. The best coach they've ever had can't seem to win in the Final Four. How many more chances do you think he will get?

Perspective. Like the 21 year old "lifetime" Patriots fan soon will find out, things are going to change.

TJD and Phinisee may be very high level by next season. The idea is for the non-freshmen to be impact players. When freshmen are big impact players they leave.

I have no idea why this is a hard concept to understand.

Even Brian Snow, who makes his living on recruiting speculation, will tell you a 21 year old is better than an 18 year old.

I hope we have a lot of talented 20-22 year olds going forward.

And Miller's recruiting strategy is clearly showing he understands this. He is going for Indiana kids who will be quality longterm players, then he tries for a few elite kids and has back ups in mind if they go elsewhere.

I think he wants Caleb Love at PG, the Curbelo or Diarra in that order. I think he wants Garcia pretty badly. I think he wanted Matt Cross and Jalen Bridges, and Geronimo may have been the back up. I am guessing from what I read, but it makes sense how he is recruiting.
I think he wants Khristian Lander pretty badly but he can't miss on the PG so he is trying to get another one this year in case Lander either chooses elsewhere or goes pro, because if I am not mistaken, the one and done rule goes away pretty soon now.
