New Orleans

I went to college in the NE. Fraternity brother was from NOLA. Actually grew up in the Quarter and went to high school with Peyton Manning at Neuman.

Well, we had our first semi formal event and he pulls out a white suit. We are all floored. He was equally confused about none of owning a white suit. Great guy. His family is in the restaurant business there. I have eaten some incredible free food.
We have a buddy like that from Dallas. Went to SMU. Lives alone in this $4MM house right off the SMU campus. 60 and single. Never married. See him with chicks rarely, but he doesn't give off the gay vibe. Just a nice dude. Old money NOLA family. Dad was in RE and owns some hotels in the Quarter as well. In an old school krewe, we hang with him at Mardi Gras every year.

Asked one of our other buddies who knew this guy better than us "why he never hung out with chicks? Is he, you know, gay?"

Response we got was "Nah, not really. He's just part of that New Orleans thing. You know."

???

I'm assuming it's similar to "That Yale Thing?"

Why don’t dems ruin NYC, LA, Denver, Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Nashville, etc?
They’re certainly making it worse in many. Pick the top 20 most dangerous cities. You’ll find Dem mayors. Most for decades. Squad politics

When the Dem mayor in Dallas realized how gay the party was, he switched parties mid-term. 😄

Over the course of his mayoral tenure, Johnson has enthusiastically backed anti-crime initiatives and developed a strong bond with Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia. He won reelection without opposition in May after sewing up the city’s business donor class, who often lean Republican, as well as the Dallas Police Association, the city’s police union.

“Mayors and other local elected officials have failed to make public safety a priority or to exercise fiscal restraint,” Johnson wrote in the op-ed. “Most of these local leaders are proud Democrats who view cities as laboratories for liberalism rather than as havens for opportunity and free enterprise.”

How can you possibly be this uninformed. I could go on and on. New Orleans, Cleveland, Baltimore, Detroit, Memphis, Milwaukee, Kansas City, Birmingham

Pick a dangerous city and they will have a long history of Dem mayors. Usually black. All over the country. Progressive Dems are bad bad politics

Cleveland is fine. KC is fine. Other than Detroit (which we all know what happened), I’m not sure I’d call those others cities.

That's racialist. 😄 Like saying City parking revenues disappear into a "black hole".

Kc is fine. It seems pretty clear that you just talk without knowing anything. Bleat uniformed feelings. Another hickory

Stl police dept would need a bill to be passed to be state controlled. They act independently. As does the prosecutor etc. Removal would take a bill.

You telling me St. Louis residents don’t pay state taxes? If they do you telling me Missouri doesn’t have to provide any services?

Not today. No. It’s not so much the progressive policies as it is that most of the educated are progressive.
There are reasons that cities vote more Democratic, chief among them, that in densely populated urban areas your actions and behavior have more externalities. Said externalities beget more laws and regulations, in other words, bigger government. Also, Urban areas tend to be younger.

Would both of those not be a better explanations for the Urban/ Rural political divide than "Smart people live in cities and smart people vote Democrat"?

Well, I can drive around all day and not see a Trump sign so if you’re saying it’s not ideological…..

I’m telling you that law enforcement and prosecutors are controlled by the city Dems. They’ve been so bad and crime has been so bad there have been calls to get the state to take over.

Dude, the state takes their money lol. Of course they have control. How would the city pay for more transit , more police, etc. when the state takes 2 percent and city only take 1 percent. Come on.

Huh? Of course they get funding. This isn’t about funding. It’s about policy. They don’t set the policies for the city. Do you not understand that? What to enforce. What to prosecute. Etc.

You pay for it you control one way or the other. If by no other means than withholding said money.

if he acknowledged that states have control then his bs about dems being responsible for any and all woes that occur in cities would go down the drain.

gotta let him keep his hyper partisan fantasyland.

Living in the country is pure bliss. Living in cities is hell and it's all the mayor's fault.....as long as the mayor is dem anyway.
