Nebraska game Thread

I predicted IU would lose by 20 tonight. Currently down 15. IU giving up 51 points in 24 minutes. Where are all the excuse makers tonight? @Courtsensetwo you around tonight? We have X. We have Ware. We look like shit.
Nebraska: 73
IU: 53

6:48 to play.

So, it turns out that giving up 87 to Kennesaw at home is not an anomaly. Turns out that having turnovers vs low level competition is not an anomaly. Turns out this is who this team is. Frustrating.

Ahh well. Roller coaster continues. Not gonna win many games with as many guys playing poorly as have tonight.

Hope they play better against OSU.

This is a broken record. We suck because our guards as a collective whole suck. It's mind boggling how we can't get guards to come to IU. The one's we do have are not productive.
The lack of production from the guards is the difference. Turnover city. S*** basketball.

It's just not our night. Hopefully they can figure out how to defend and move the ball better especially on the road

It's been the whole season mostly. We have all kinds of problems beating cupcakes at home and get trounced by better teams. Not sure we even go .500 in the big ten honestly.

Embarrassment to the program. We better start getting serious in the portal in the off-season. This Nebraska back court is not good and we made them look like all conference.
Next year may be Woodson last unless his portal class is just incredible.

Nebraska Starting Guards (3 players)

Three pointers:8-17

IU Starting Guards + top reserve (3 players)

I quit watching because I want to sleep tonight But the team stunk it up with X, Gunn, Banks having their normal game and Gallo looking like he had something else on his mind tonight. Never been an x fan and he sure didnt do anything to make me think otherwise. Better off without him and his stupid faces and dumb plays.

This team plays like anyone cares about IU history instead of making their own.

We were down 10 or so and the game was shifting in our favor when I posted that. We made a lot of dumb mistakes after that that ended our chances.
I hear ya and understand. Sadly, I am not surprised at all. Anyone who has been watching and paying attention and isn't a charter member of the rose colored glasses excuses committee could see this. Turnovers. Bad defense. No guards. Not a surprising outcome.

turned it off.

Ware was great. Everyone else horrible.

When you have THAT many guys play poorly…you have to put that on coaches not preparing them well, and not having them ready to play…as much as anything.
Hoiberg ate Woody's and all the assistant coaches' lunches tonight. Started out neutralizing Malik and got his kids ready to run their motor for 40mins. We looked like long distance runners against sprinters all night long. This Nebraska team is bad and they destroyed us. Our walk-ons should have got a chance to play tonight.

North you and Geez outside of me probably know the most basketball on this board, do you think this team should primarily play zone? pressuring the ball 35 feet out gets us killed by good teams. sometimes you coach to your personnel

It might mask their issues for a bit, but it wouldn’t solve them longer term, I wouldn’t think.

They’re really bad with their rotations, eliminating that with some sort of zone would initially help.

But they’re also very slow to jump in to gaps, they get caught ball watching a lot, and outside Ware, they aren’t good rebounders. Those things would make their zone efforts pretty crappy eventually.

In the end, it’s painfully obvious that Woody is failing to property teach this team some pretty basic defensive principles. And those shortcomings are going to make pretty much any defensive style ineffective.

But some sort of zone would probably be the “least crappy” approach. I’d go 3-2 zone personally. Our gap coverage is so bad a 2-3 would be basically shooting practice for the other team.

Take them all off the floor and just concede Woody. Stop playing anyone that is going to tolerate dumb, flat, uninspired basketball. These are 4-5 star athletes getting embarrassed and out hustled by low tier D1 athletes.
Some might call that coaching.

Gonna have to get a lot worse first before it will ever get any better. Buckle up.
