National Guard to LA

He’s won the presidency twice. You know I like needling you aloha. But I do appreciate you and all you’ve done. But from the bottom of my boozey heart. Your party is done.
At this point, I don't think we really have any choice but to become detached cynics and simply enjoy the Trump presidency for the spectacle that it is, and most assuredly will continue to be.

They didn't vote because they knew they know the Georgia election system was very suspect. It's been improved since then, but in 2020, it was corrupt.
No, they THOUGHT it was corrupt. It wasn't. Republican Governor Kemp and Secretary of State Raffensperger run a tight ship for elections and are very popular in the state. They know there was no voter fraud in 2020 that was enough to change any races and are on the record saying so. Governor Kemp is on my shortlist for Republican candidates for President in 2028. He would be a good one.

We'll see. A MAGA Republican party can't last IMO. What we really need is a sane center right alternative. It isn't the Democrats and third parties can't get traction, so my only hope is that the GOP evolves to something more sane and less chaotic.

On your first point, there is a set amount of product available. We're not creating many colleges each year.

On your second, you assume that colleges don't spend more when they have more to spend. Have you been to Bloomington lately to see all the new buildings?
Colleges don’t have hard fixes on # of students. They charge the foreigners full freight. It helps with keeping colleges running.

I’d prefer we stop that and divert more tax dollars while also streamlining the ridiculous # of administrators and returning college back to what it’s mission should be.

So basically, today Trump was all, "I called him yesterday, and we talked for 16 minutes," and Gavin was all, "No, he didn't," and Trump tried to prove his point by releasing a White House phone call log from Saturday. About a call which Newsom already on Sunday talked about publicly as having happened.

And all the Trumpers thought this was a score.

In Trump's defense, assuming he's 95% adderall and Bic Mac by now, there's a chance he really thought Saturday was yesterday.
I had a law partner that was like something out of the movies. 6’5. Hollywood voice. Could argue with the S Ct in the morning and that night drink a case of Busch with the Hoosiers in a dive bar.

Xxxxx there’s a motion on the fax for you.

Sanctions???

Compel.

Eh throw it away.

Everything always late. Not done. Fckd up. But like a 6’5 paul Newman in court. Took Chrysler for $30 mil. There was a Southwest Airlines kiosk in the lobby of our bldg and every time he got a big pop he’d book a flight and leave.

Our firm had a Christmas party and he got real drunk and cussed out his gf and physically threw another lawyer out of the bar. Cops came. Hauled him down to county in a $5k bespoke suit.

The next morning everyone was heading to court for morning dockets just as he was getting out of jail.

Xxxxx what are you doing?!!! Your hair is a mess.

Ehhhhh I had to go down here and see about a guy in jail.

Oh I heard YOU were in jail!

With this big sweeping gesture he goes “Ehhh ya got me” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

He’s about 20 years older than me and I love him. I always hear and see trump and think of him. It’s a type

That's exactly what it means. I don't even understand how your brain works at this point.
My brain knows that if you're spending money on new buildings, it's not going to keep tuition down.

I do know how your brain works - I posted something, so you automatically take the opposite view.

You responded to me, not the other way around.

OK, let's use a real world example.

Have tuitions gone up so much that it's unaffordable to the average US student since the US started allowing masses of foreign students in?

There's your answer. It hasn't just kept the lights on in colleges. It's what you would do if your business just became insanely flooded with money - you'd spend it, and not all on altruistic projects.

Foreign money has allowed colleges to spend well beyond what they normally would. And it takes 300,000 college spots from US students. Sure, colleges can add more students, but they have to builld more facilities and hire faculty. It's just a money cycle and it has inevitably made college ridiculously expensive.

Your comment was a response to me. How can someone be this stubborn? You're a force of nature.
That's the nicest thing you've ever said about me!

Yes, I did responed to you, but I made the first comment about the 300,000 students and how it affected costs of college.

I'm talking about how they are finding excuses to yank student visas and the like. You'll be seeing a lot more of that in the near future.
Good. 300,000+ Chinese students currently in the US. Making college less affordable for US citizens.

Do you have an article you’ve read putting forth this theory or just spit balling? The latter is cool just wondering if you have something I could read.

No, just using my big brain.

Of course, it's always conjecture to say something might, or might not have, happened. But if you look at IU in the 80s or even into the 90s, it looks like a different place. My old college buddies and I got together maybe 15 years ago and cruised campus and hit a game and the 'Bird. I have been to IU many times since graduation, so the differences didn't seem that major to me, but they were blown away by the changes.

It always amuses me that Bloomingto is now known for it's restaurants - and there are many really good ones. But when we were there, there were very few. A lot of pizza places, but very few nice restaurants. And the apartment buildings - my God, it's crazy. I can't believe the dorms are that crowded, with that much new housing.

Bloomington is now known for its restaurants? Why?

You can't spit in Bloomington today and not hit a good restaurant. Downtown if filled with them. And the little street with Chinese, Thai, Turkish, Himalayan (I think) is really cool.

Some of the locals who post here can go down the list, but there are many very good restaurants in Bloomington.

I'm just repeating what I heard all the education experts say during interviews. I'm not an expert myself, so I don't know. But at least I'm relying on experts' big brains, unlike DANC who only has his own big brain to back up his claim.
My big brain also has an Economics undergrad degree and an MBA.

I'm not talking about my ass like you are.

Where's the data to support that?
They assume demand would remain the same, which is complete nonsense. They don't know how it would all shake out. Generally speaking when demand decreases, so do prices. The question is would demand decrease off set whatever extra foreign students are paying

I posted why in the nullification thread. Differences are no longer resolved by elections, differences are magnified by mobs, violence, and even carrying different flags. Reasonableness is absent.

CoH, hate to say it, but differences aren't resolved by elections.

In my naive point of view, differences are resolved by those elected listening and respecting the losers while having a willingness to compromise.

This way we get solutions to legislating longer lasting solutions which a great majority accepts.

No doubt MAGA has control of the Republican Party now, but the MAGA candidates get whooped in most every high profile election other than Trump. So that sets up a scenario in the next presidential election of a MAGA Trump wannabe winning the nomination, but getting smoked in the general.

Trump is a unique character and his appeal wont transfer to other individuals. The electorate will just consider the MAGA candidate as a cruel imposter, without Trump’s personality like they have a history of doing with MAGA Senate candidates.

* Edit to add: If Trump were to arrest Newsom as he threatened to do, he would probably be crowning Gavin as the next President.

As you say, Trump is a unique character, to say the least.

I believe whoever takes his place won't be as divisive as Trump (although Vance may - the Dems are setting him up to be). So some of those MAGA talking points may not seem so radical coming from a more moderate personality.

Vance is the tech bros boy, so they’ll soften his image as needed.

Agree in part disagree in part. Lost in the personality is capturing Joe bag of doughnuts worker. Joe wasn’t a Ronald Reagan republican. He didn’t believe in trickle down. Corp breaks etc. He was a Dem. Dems ignored Joe and pandered to celebs trannies and minorities. Trump swooped in and gobbled up Joe. Win the worker and you will win your freedom

No matter who Republicans nominate, he/she will be the next Hitler.

I was very much against Vance as VP when he was selected, but warmed to him as the campaign went on. He is articulate and a persuasive speaker. But his run-in with Zelensky totally turned me off. I would take Desantis or Rubio over him in a second.

I just don't trust the guy.

You really believe Vance or DeSantis, with a side helping of MAGA, would lose? To whom?

And not just lose, but get “smoked?”

I am not seeing that, particularly as all the Dems are shooting themselves in their collective feet over borders/illegal immigration. And they seem to keep throwing their crazies out there for all to see, which is not a good look.

I guess that’s part of the point I was trying to make. I think Trump is a unique personality that appeals to the working class, like Reagan. Any other Pub politician that attempts that will sound fake. Because they will be.

I’m assuming the Dems will get their political shit together in the next couple of years. Maybe they won’t, but IMO the public prefers Dem policies over what the Pubs offer if you take away the recent social issue stuff that Murt rails against. It will take a leader to once again appeal to the working class and take the gender stuff off the front burner. It shouldn’t be that hard.
