My next choice.

...and let's give him a year and a half, too! Great way to build a program!

If a change is made, whether it's this year or next year.

I would target someone like Buzz Williams. He has shown he can win in major conferences. Good Offensive coach that plays up and down. Charismatic but not too Charismatic. Good recruiter. They should have hired someone like this to begin with.

I don’t want CAM going anywhere, but since the question was asked, I wouldn’t mind taking a look at Chris Collins.

Please hire an accomplished high major coach, someone who has a track record of consistency and a solid system in place.

Those people don't leave there current jobs
Cal- no
Self- no
Coach K- no
Wright - no but he is not at a high major
Williams- no
Bennett-very doubtful
Few- no not high major
Pretty much anyone else is a crap shoot because you have no idea if other coaches will succeed at this level.

"Charismatic but not too Charismatic"

wha??? what in the holy f*** are you talking about???? jesus

i'm quickly realizing the malcontents are pretty much the people who wanted a fairy tale romance with their Stevie. it's borderline psychosexual. holy crap

Is that the same Buzz Williams whose teams only scored 39 points against Syracuse in the 2013 tournament. Everyone wanted Crean gone after we only could score 50 against that same Syracuse team. People just look at the flavor of the month when looking at coaches but don't really think things through.

It doesn’t matter because Archie isn’t going anywhere but if there is a change I’m starting to jump on the Indiana guy bandwagon myself. Unless they could land Stevens, Donovan, or some other elite coach.

My gut feeling is that by the end of year 4, Archie has done just well enough to keep his job and not bad enough to justify making another coaching change. IU needs stability in the program (see Purdue list of coaches in the last 30 years.) The majority of recruits, those not deemed “one and dones, don’t like the revolving door analogy when it comes to a school’s coaching history. They don’t want to hassle the new learning curve that comes with new coaching philosophies.

so how did he get his nickname?

You’re using Purdue as your example? And what exactly have they done in those 30 years?

No of course it won't long term, in the B1G. But comparing rankings at an A10 school nationally is ridiculous. You have to compare it to peer teams in that conference.

I didn't cherry pick TT....I mentioned him because many posters kept talking about him the last week or so.

I have no idea why Mr. Bear can't seem to grasp the concept that the offensive efficiency rankings are for all teams and not normalized.

He keeps bitching that Dayton wasn't as efficient as a power 5 school which is beyond dumb.

I told him, his brother, which runs the exact same things on offense, is rarely out of the top 15.

But Arizona is a power five school so that was silly of me wasn't it. Best look at it as a straight compare.

Marty Simmons is my pick.

I clamoured for us to fire Crean after year three so, I get what this Fpaugh dude is saying....but part of me wanting Crean gone was because there was a Brad Stevens at a mid major in his 30's and those guys are extremely rare, so you have to go get it.

Unless there's a Brad Stevens out their available Archie gets his four years from me (unless he cheats or kills somebody)

I trust him enough that I want to see if he can get it done.

I’m not calling for Archie to be fired. He gets at least three seasons from me. IU will probably give him five at a minimum because that is what they do.

So who are we going to hire? From the looks of the scoreboard today it looks like Archie already left to coach his alma mater.

It shouldn't take IU three years to be a tournament team.

I said that during Crean's first three years (where in year three he went 3-15 in the conference).

That being said, other than Morgan we have absolutely no upperclassmen with the junior class (Davis, Jones and Green) being a complete bust.

Our sophomores aren't playing above their ranking other than Al, but he was barely a three star prospect. Justin has been okay like Nojel Eastern okay.

Our freshman class is basically two dudes right now.

That is pretty thin.

Davis from December is at least able to give us 10 productive minutes. That would have made a huge difference yesterday to combat their size. Instead we go to Moore, Forrester and good lord Fitzner.

I was talking about our roster with a friend of mine from the media (I won't say who he is) and he had an interesting breakdown:

"One person senior class. And Morgan is playing out of position as well as too many minutes.

Junior class total bust. They do need Davis for a post presence. Jones gone. Green erratic.

Sophomore class is two average Big Ten players and a project. Smith is averaging nearly 3 turnovers per assist. He cannot dribble or pass. Also not a shooter. Durham excellent competitor but has rough edges.

That leaves freshmen.

But even with a that, this team should be better on defense and the glass. It has regressed in those areas.

Toss in injuries and front-loaded schedule and this is what you get."

The team "should be better on defense" I agree with. It should. Go back and watch our last 5 games. Smith runs around like the Keystone Cops instead of maintain his position in the pack line. He helps when he doesn't need to; he DOESN'T when he should.

OK, you sit his ass. Who do you sub in? Who is ready to play at this level? And if you say Archie should have guys developed more, just how does that happen? In practice - where Hunter, Thompson and Davis have been no shows for the better part of the season. Davis has gotten some practice time, but he's had ankle injury / conditioning issues the majority of the season.

As an IU fan, I'm PISSED at how this season has gone. When I realistically evaluate things, I realize this is a perfect storm of issues that has caused this mess. Along with no leadership and (I believe) chemistry issues, it's a lot for a team / coach to overcome.

A totally inept Crean leftover roster. Only one class of Archie recruits, and two of them are still out with injuries. No perimeter shooters, no healthy low post bangers. Crean did not balance the roster. Only one contributing upper clsssman - Morgan.
Agree but somehow Archie managed to win a lot of games leading up to the current debacle. Something happened.

The defense doesn't surprise me as the locker room crumbled.

Defense is a lot of want. When the guys don't want anymore, it's going to suffer.

I have ripped on Romeo for his effort all year...wondering if he's ever going to get on the floor for a 50/50 ball, ever step in to take a charge (he had a couple of drives that he was guarding put their shoulders into him but I don't remember him once setting up to take a charge)?

I don't think he has. Probably didn't in HS.

However lately has anyone set up to take a charge lately? Maybe Al.

Al is becoming my favorite player in this group
