To be really frank, I've discovered that there are some things that I just can't abide, and having to see them makes me into a raging asshole. In the world of internet forums, it is people who occupy all these areas:
1. Stupid
2. Arrogant
3. Rude/Vulgar
4. Wrong
If someone is only one, two, or even three of those things, they are a delight, and I enjoy interacting with them. If they are all four, I just can't handle it. But as a mod, I don't feel I can ignore any posters. So not a mod, I put the tiny handful (seriously tiny, like just two or three) of posters who genuinely hit all four of these benchmarks on ignore.
And since then, my experiences on this forum have become hundredfold more pleasant.
Some will say you shouldn't use the ignore feature. But used judiciously, and with the goal of avoiding those things which make you into less than you want to be, it's great.
