This is about as bad as it gets for the former Music Television Network (when's the last time a music video even appeared on MTV? 1996?)

"First off, try to recognize that America was never 'great' for anyone who wasn't a white guy," an MTV News employee continued, an apparent reference to President-elect Donald Trump's campaign slogan.

Really? Yet, a black President is in the White House as we listen to this?

Just before a black man declares that “cops weren’t born with blue skin, right? I mean, yeah! They weren’t born blue!”

Oh the irony, which is clearly not understood. He doesn't even seem to care about the fact that his skin is actually brown.

Good lord. I think I finally understand "special snowflake."

(Snowflakes are white, BTW.)

Like I said try and explain BET, Black History Month and Miss Black America to a bunch of freshmen born in 2002.

MTV has taken the video down now it seems. One article stated that the video had 89 'thumbs up' votes on Youtube and 11,922 'thumbs down' votes. It seems it was universally unappealing and distasteful to most.

As and old white guy I found it offensive even if it makes me a "snowflake". The comment about cops aren't born with blue skin was very insensitive and crude anyway you cut it.

I did learn that I can't comment on the fact that I have many close and personal friends who are black. If I do it makes me a racist it seems. But as an old white male conservative I should expect such nonsense and be thick skinned about it I guess. Then again MTV in general is a waste of time.

Who else is good? I watched 1/2 of Gaffigan on Netflix and found it to be mostly good.

I've seen some of the usual suspects (Chappelle, Tucker, Jeselnik).
Jeselnik's a hack. Chappelle is great, but his best stuff is his old stuff.

Amy Schumer is hilarious if you've never seen her. She gets old fast.

Patton Oswalt's been on a good roll lately.

I think Kyle Kinane is hilarious, but he's pretty blue. Makes LCK look like a Jesuit. But then, if you like Jeselnik...

It's only insensitive because it's poorly done. Good comedy can say "White people suck!" and "Cops suck!" But bad comedy can't. I'm not entirely sure what the difference is between good and bad, to be honest, but that's what the Louis CK video was for. He basically said the same thing the MTV video said, but it was hilarious. And it's not like he was subtle about it.

I think it has something to do with saying it in a way that makes the audience connect two dots they've never connected before. "America's never been great for anyone but white guys!" and "Only white guys can mess with time machines!" both essentially make the same point, but only the latter is funny, and I think it's because of the idea of connecting race relations to a time machine, which you wouldn't ever do in your own brain until you watch the video.

I've only seen Jeselnik's older stuff (Comedy Central Presents) and I've been meaning to check out his NFLX routine. I find his delivery to be the best because most couldn't handle saying some of the things he does.

Schumer was funny the first time, but I agree, she does little to differentiate. Reminds me some of Lisa Lampanelli, who grew old after initial interest.

I grew up with some Andrew Dice Clay, so I enjoy the lude, crude humor. Sometimes a softer touch is a good change of pace.

Oh, if you like ADC, you'll handle Kinane, no problem. Check him out. He's got a great deadpan. Sort of like what you say about Jeselnik, it's hard to believe he can say some of the things he says with a straight face.

This is the mellow version of KK:

I guess it depends on and individuals sense of humor. I found the MTV video more of an opinion piece than a bad attempt at comedy. For me personally there are things which comedy should avoid. White people suck or cops suck done in fun is fine but linking it to the fatal shootings of cops in any fashion isn't the least bit comical or funny even if done by the best in the game. It is not any different than some asswipe comic making some sort of sick routine about those killed by the police or making light of a womans decision about abortion etc. I might be very old fashioned but for me their are still things that shouldn't ever be mocked or made fun of regardless of the skill of a comic.

I always enjoyed Andrew Dice Clay and Sam Kinison. But even they had their limits and topics they wouldn't venture into.

I'm not surprised. I think that's how bad comedy comes off.

I adamantly disagree with this. I think comedy shouldn't be afraid to tackle anything...as long as the comedian can handle it.

I understand, but I thought it was hilarious when Amy Schumer made fun of Steve-O. It was totally inappropriate, but I thought she pulled it off.

It's a personal thing I guess. I just personally can't fathom a comic mocking and creating a humorous routine for example about a woman's very personal decision to have and abortion. This is but one example. How about a routine about Jews hiding out in the bottom of latrines neck deep in feces to avoid being taken to the crematories? There are simply things that humor can't be found in IMHO. There are limits.....there simply has to be. Some things are simply to sacred and serious to be made into humor.

This is just my humble opinion. And the conversation has went off course somewhat.

Chappelle. Saw him in San Antonio, his first night in a three day run. About 3-4 months ago maybe. He was really good. He does a LOT of off the cuff stuff with the audience.

And he's jacked now. Didn't look like the same guy.

I'm a pretty big Jim Jeffries fan. I agree on Jeselnik, started strong, but has become respective and lame. It's probably best relegated to only doing roasts.

Was MTV going for comedy though? I think even the most unenlightened among us realize that America was a shitty place for dark skinned people for quite awhile. I actually enjoy Timeless which is running right now which makes that point (sometimes in a comedic way) by sending a brilliant black engineer back in time with a white female historian and a white male military guy.

You can make a point without being a dick. I think MTV was going the dick route as opposed to the funny route that Louis CK chose.

On another note, I pray for the day I can start getting my TV a la cart without having to cut the cord. The day that happens is the day you see channels like MTV go the way of the dinosaur.

Just got around to watching that.....That was pathetic.

Louis CK is going to be really mad when he learns some people think he's not a dick.

LOL. No he totally is...guess his delivery of this was a little better. Louis CK is that funny a-hole friend that we all have. You know the guy is a complete jerk but you get the feeling that the dickishness comes from a good place.

I do not get that from the MTV thing.

You somewhat can with Sling and Amazon Channels, no?

The only thing keeping cable companies afloat are live events.
