Movies, books, tv

Lots of great lines in Point Break that get quoted among some of my buddies. Without fail, if anyone going up to the bar to get beers asks "who needs one?", he'll get the best line of the movie.

My kids couldn’t believe how awesome it was. When Johnny Utah wrecked Bohdi during the beach football game they went nuts. “That’s Johnny Utah from Ohio State.”

Swayze was absolutely on a heater in that one. RIP

I wonder how the original Roadhouse would hold up with kids today?

Not sure I want to see the remake. For my money, Swayze and Sam can't be topped.

Have we had any discussions about The Bear season 3? I just finished Ice Chips. I have some thoughts.
Going to finish this tonight. Haven’t gotten to ice chips yet. The conversation with the former baseball player. Perfect.

This is how much I love Swayze. After Point Break ended, I pulled up “She’s Like the Wind” on YouTube and watched it 20 straight times.
There's a great backstory about how he got that song into the movie.

A few updates:

Twisters--good. ridiculous. like the first one. I might like this one better. Great popcorn movie and family friendly.

Deadpool and Wolverine--fanboy porn? Sure. Don't like that? Don't go. Meh.

Three Body Problem--starts off boring (although I read the first book so knew what was coming). I thought it was interesting midway through to the end. Looking forward to the next season. Glaring plot inconsistencies, though, which is tough when it's hard sci-fi.

Slow Horses--great. Can't say enough good things about it

Slow Horses is excellent. Gary Oldman at his best.

Just finished George Stephanopoulos’ Situation Room. It went through emergencies and major disasters in President’s Kennedy through Trump. Spoke with many people involved in the administration. Felt it was fairly bipartisan until Trump era. It made me like admire some of the past presidents more. Think many would find it interesting.

Movies? Are there any summer movies that aren’t Marvel and/or for kids? After last years’ Barbenheimer extravaganza, I can barely find anything I’m interested in seeing in theaters. I see independents, foreign, everything, but there just hasn’t been much of interest. Think I’ve been to the cinema twice all summer and I usually go every week.
