More winning

Well, to each their own.

But, for me, you gotta get the ball rolling somehow. And the normies have had decades of opportunity to do it.

But they never did, and probably never would have. Maybe this will be the catalyst to get them to do it.
Quite the opposite. This is all going to be the catalyst to bury all of this because it was made a sick and ineffective joke.

Craze, like the term "normies" which the are the past presidents and pols from both parties which MAGAs reject as being failures.

Have to admit, to this old fool the normiees are like a pair of over worn slippers which still feel good at the end of the day.
I do too. I’m an establishmentarian.

But I also recognize that they’re the authors of the predicament we find out nation in.

So I’d really like to see them do better.

You are being sold a bill of goods to justify the real reason.

Elon was theater.
i don't have time to read all that. i'm a drive by reader poster. but the crux. i was fooled. shrinking gov for the sake of saving money is a pretense. the real reason is to get rid of all of the old bureaucrats and replace same with a smaller trump gov that is currently in the shadows ready for action. remove all guardrails like opposition judges etc. implement martial law.

and trump rules into perpetuity - the actual reason for all of this activity

that's what you're saying? i've been duped believing it's anything else?

10000 x less press conferences.
Less dummies
1 press conference a year from the AG
No social media
I used to like the news.
Loved watching crossfire on cnn (side note— Michael kinsely was super bright and a great foil for pat Buchanan— Michael has Parkinson’s and has been unable to do a thing— he wrote a great book called the curse of the Giant Muffins. Basically a series of essays.

I don’t really remember people hating the president. Those days are long gone.

So Elon isn't "co-president" who is actually the man in control of the entire federal government?

Huh.

So basically he was running around telling everyone how big and huge his cuts and cost savings will be when in reality they were tiny mushroom sized. Sounds apt and par for the course for this administration.
I see what you did there.

Jamie Dimon says Elon Musk’s DOGE ‘needs to be done’ — calls US government ‘inefficient’ and claims it’s more than just ‘waste and fraud.’

What fraud has been discovered/reported? Have Musk's multitude even looked for fraud?
The only things Musk and Trump are looking for and found are headlines.

You don’t think there’s waste and fraud with our gov? Ss disability vets disability Medicare defense without a clean audit on and on. But you missed the point of jdb’s take. Perhaps you should read the article before bleating

In the meantime we’ll mark you as happy with the status quo

No, No, No, No. Of course there is Fraud and waste. I want the FRAUD rooted out and those responsible prosecuted.
What I'm saying is, I'd like to see some effort put in to rooting it out. Haven't seen any such effort yet.
If you know of any fraud DOGE has found please inform me.

Why are you focusing on fraud. Why not the other things in the article?

Did you not understand the article? Still? Like maybe funding Harvard isn’t a worthwhile outcome? Certain programs?

Sorry, but fraud in government bothers me more than waste.
Probably because of where I grew up. Lake County Indiana was/is the most corrupt county in the state.
Lake County also abuts Cook Co. Ill./Chicago which was/is probably the most corrupt place in the USA outside of DC.

Fair enough. Give it time. Fla case. Look when it started.

True, and I'm sure DOGE has taken a deep dive into what is worthwhile and what is not.
If they want to be hacking universities unnecessary fed funding the first place I would check is whether or not any money is headed to the Kinsey Institute .

Go after all of it

It's been going on a long time. I was peripherally involved in one case in the late 1990s or early 2000s.
Basically doctor(s)were providing patients with Ace Bandages while billing the Gov. for custom fitted braces.

Get any qui tam $? Shit is rampant in fla. Fake offices etc

Well I'd hate to think important research (cancer, diabetes, etc.) was disrupted because of the institution failed to kneel to the president.
Of course. But the gravy train for these universities needs to end. Imo the entire system. tax them. Let them find funding for bs soft stuff and restrict tax payer dollars to core stuff. I went to grad school for free. Studying dumb shit. Researching even dumb shit. Stick to Cancer etc

I can go along with that. I have a feeling that after expenses there wouldn't be much to tax. Guess it would depend on whether restricted use donations and subsequent interest earned on said donation were taxable.
I suppose a gift tax could be levied on the donor.

Scientific research is being decimated.

Even Harvard, with its huge endowment, is fvcked if they refuse to bend on Trump’s DEI bans and “no protests” demands. $2 billion now, and a half billion per year going forward, is a lot of money, even for them.

AIDS will be back with a vengeance as a result of foreign aid cuts. This will have implications not just internationally but here in the US.

Oh My Omg GIF by Sony Pictures Television

lol...that 1st sentence is too much 🤣🤣🤣

They have the wherewithal to ride it out.

Part of that wrecking ball some on the right don't want to acknowledge as bad. They will defend Trump and Musk at all costs.

This country is more at risk whwn this team is no longer in place.

How do you know this is bad? What data have you seen to show this dept. is effective and efficient? What statistical evidence do you have to determine that the country is more at risk?

I'm not trying to defend Trump or DOGE but I'm also not going to entirely believe one-sided article without more information. I mean, if the article is trying to prop up this group with the highlights of the Afghanistan withdrawal and tracking aid to Ukraine, the group may not be worth keeping.

Where did the attitude that everyone in government is worthless and nothing they do is worthwhile come from? It's certainly a thing with many, including Musk and his team of clowns.

We track aid to Ukraine so that we can disprove the nonsense claims of the pro-Russia/anti-Ukraine crowd that we've provided three to four times as much as we actually have and that Zelenskyy has pocketed most of it. Seriously, there is much more that they do which is very important. You just have to get past the everyone is worthless and nothing is worthwhile mindset.

Not worthless but a perception. From dealing with gov. From “I’m just going to get a gov gig this is exhausting.” In law it’s where people go to give up. Become an alj etc

Gov work is important work. But personally I do believe that the inherent nature of both it and nonprofits gives rise to bloat inertia and complacency

My experience is with the DoD and some with State (Security Cooperation Offices in Embassies - usually staffed with mostly DoD, but some State as well). You'd be hard pressed to find civilians more serious, hardworking and competent in any organization. This why it actually irritates me greatly when people who don't even know a government worker has the attitude that they're all worthless and what they do is worthless. Those people have multiplied in the past few months. Frankly, they're ignorant.

I’ve dealt with countless agencies. My experience has been they’re awful. And most of the workers half-assed. Night and day difference from law firms I worked

Of course, that is sometimes the case. You'd probably like working with military and DoD for the most part. There's a joke about my community (Surface Warfare) in the Navy. People would say give a SWO (Surface Warfare Officer) an empty office with a desk and he'd soon figure out how work 50 to 60 hours a week and be productive doing it.

I'll just say this. I imagine some of these people are very sharp. I worked for a few years in a cyber security and information security team for a large company. I know the amount of threats and cyber attacks we faced daily.

This team sounded like they provided a broad range of services. The type of talent that likely walked out the door does not grow on trees.
