I don't think he has much of a name in the national ring anymore. Holcomb has been a better Governor and has a little name recognition. I could see him running. Pretty moderate and not a Trumper. He may be able to garner some DEM votes. Mine included. I voted for him for governor.

Meh. One of those trustees was my freshman year roommate and fraternity brother at Purdue. A good guy. New President is current Dean of the engineering school and is Asian-American. He turned down the presidency at South Carolina to stay at Purdue, and has done a great job leading the engineering school.
He leased not sold the toll road for about $4 billion and the leasee had to pay about another $4 billion for repairs. The $4 billion was then used for road projects in the state that to this day would still not be completed. This had nothing to do with budgets. It was in a special "Major Moves Fund" specifically allocated for roads, bridges. The governor of Indiana has the job of replacing a limited number of trustees at IU and Purdue and I think other state universities.
Have you ever been to the University of South Carolina? It makes even Purdue look good by comparison.
