Minnesota projects to be one of the three worst teams in the BT in 2025-26, but would appear to have more upside than either Rutgers or PSU.

This is a 95% rebuild situation, almost entirely through the portal.

Possible starting 5:

--6'2" Chaunsey Willis
--6'4" Langston Reynods
--6'7" Bobby Durkin
--6'8" BJ Omot
--6'8" Robert Vaihola

Durkin is the highest rated transfer in the portal at 89 on 247. He was known as a 3 pt shooter at Davidson. Willis was a very productive PG at W. Michigan but only rated 241 on 247 site. I have to think he's better than that based on his stats. Willis & Durkin are Jrs. The other 3 are all seniors. Vaihola started every game at San Jose St. Omot played at Cal last year but was injured after 4 games. He was doing well at the time. He was a 2 year all league at N. Dakota. Reynolds avg 16/6 at N. Colorado and was all league there.

No big time players here but 5 usable veteran starters.

Rotation players:

--6'8" Jaylen Crocker-Johnson
--6'7" Cade Tyson
--6'10" Nehremiah Turner
--6'9" Grayson Grove
--6'3" Issac Assuma
--6'3" Chance Stepens

Crocker-Johnson is a senior who started 29/36 games last year at Colorado St. Tyson played sparingly at UNC last year after having been effective the year before at Belmont. Both add experience. Turner is a true Soph who came on late last year at Central Arkansas. He might be a sleeper. Assuma played some last year as a freshman. Grove and Stephens may not bring much. Grover redshirted last year as a freshman. Stepens played little at MD and is injury-prone.

Summary:

Durkin is projected as the best player on the team. Willis, Omot, Crocker-Johnson, Vaihola & Reynolds all rated between 241 & 375 on the transfer portal. Tyson wasn't ranked. Yet all 6 have been productive players on a lower level and all are vets. Turner is a young guy to watch. Assuma is a role player. This is the kind of a team that may start off pretty well because it'll have a collective chip on it's shoulder......than fade badly late when they realize they're not very good.
