IU needs to stay out of foul trouble, and I expect the opposite.

The thing that scares me about this game is the fact that Michigan doesn't foul and they don't turn it over. It's why Beilein is a future HOF coach.

IU has a major turnover problem at the point guard position without Phinisee. They are also way less experienced in comparison to Michigan, it's going to be a really tough game. I just want to see IU show some mental toughness and fight. Another Duke performance in terms of effort will be very disappointing IMHO.

IMO those are all great matchups for Michigan - except for Teske on Morgan.

If Juwan gets hot from outside (Butler), Teske will be forced to go out to guard him. That opens up things for RL , Al or DG to drive; or, if JM takes him off the dribble, we could get good looks from other defenders dropping off to help.

Reason I play CM on Juwan? As you said, he’s their best defender. He’s quick, has length, and while he doesn’t have Morgan’s bulk he’s stronger than most realize. My nightmare is CM beating Juwan to the spot defensively and picking up charging calls on him - exactly what cannot happen if we hope to have any chance.

I may be wrong, but I see no way in hell Matthews could guard Morgan. You're basically talking about a two guarding a four. Especially anywhere near the post area. Why would Juwan drive a quicker player?

Yeah, I might very well be wrong, too. I just see Juwan as a BIG matchup problem for them. Again, I’d love to see Teske on him; he could do some serious damage. Only way I see that working for them is if JM can’t hit a jumper.

If not Teske, who do you throw at Juwan? Braz - then maybe Livers (who has the bulk)?

The one thing that gives me hope in this game is this matchup. If Phin was playing I’d feel more optimistic; without him IMO this game needs to run thru Juwan. Wolverines don’t have anyone who is a good cover for Morgan. And if the offense is facilitated thru him, perhaps (hopefully) it can reduce the # of stupid turnovers by DG.

Limit turnovers. Keep Juwan out of foul trouble and run the offense thru him. Do those things and i like our chances. Defense always travels well, and we’ve been playing great on that end of the floor. We just gotta get better shot attempts for guys, which I think is possible running things thru Morgan.
