There are no hits in the game so far on a nice day with the temp at 65. The commentators said there is a big crowd on hand for the home opener. Hayden has had some control problems with 3 walks and he walked two in the 2nd. Hayden left the two walks on at 2nd and 3rd with all three outs on strikeouts in the inning. Hayden is at 44 pitches through two innings and he has also been charged with an error which didn't hurt IU.

In the 2nd, Ellis got a leadoff walk and Colopy then singled for the first hit of the game, putting men on 1st and 2nd with no outs. Tibbetts then hit a three-run homer to RF to give IU a 3-0 lead with no outs. Pyne then singled and took 2nd on a wild pitch with no outs. Mathison walked to put runners on 1st and 2nd, and Fougerousse then homered on a 430 ft shot to CF to score three more runs. Miami ended the inning on a pop-up and a couple of fly outs. Miami had action in the bullpen, so we probably won't see the Miami starter in the 3rd. Ryan Kraft replaced Hayden in the T3rd.

Kraft got off to a shaky start in the 3rd walking the leadoff man and then giving up a double that put men on 2nd and 3rd with no outs. A force out at first scored a run, while the man on 2nd moved to 3rd. Kraft got out of jam by striking out the next two batters. One run scored, but it could have been worse. Surprisingly, Miami is sticking with their starter in the 3rd.

In the B3rd, Ellis struck out to leadoff, but then the next two batters walked to put runners on 1st and 2nd with one out. Jack Pyne then singled to the OF scoring Colopy from 2nd. A DP ball ended the inning on a close play at 1st.

In the 4th, after a strikeout, Miami put men on 1st and 2nd on a single and a controversial hit batter, but a DP ball ended the inning with no damage done. IU up in the bottom of the 4th. Miami goes to their bullpen in the 4th.

In IU's 4th, Fougerousse struck out to leadoff, Doanes walked, and Glasser lined out, but Whalen tripled off the wall scoring Doanes. Ellis then hit a 2-run homer to make it 10-1, and Colopy grounded out to end the inning.

It’s so weird to read your recaps and not really know which team you’re even talking about. Soooo many new names on this roster.

In the T5th, Miami put runners on the corners on a walk and a single with two outs. Another walk loaded the bases. On a 1-2 count and two outs, Miami scored on a wild pitch by Tucker to make it 10-2. No further damage done with IU getting out of the inning on a fly out. IU pitchers have given up quite a few walks in this game so far, but they usually haven't been hurt by them.

Brock Tibbetts led off IU's 5th with a blast that was put at 431 ft and hit near or at the bypass per the play-by-play guys. It was his 2nd homer of the day for Tibbetts and the 4th homer of the day for IU, and that was all of the scoring in the inning.

In the 6th, Miami led off with a double, but Tucker left him there with three straight Ks. IU at bat in their half of the 6th.

In IU's 6th, Glasser led off with a single, but was thrown out trying to steal 2nd. Whalen then walked and was thrown out as he went past 2nd and was thrown out trying to get back. He was credited with the steal. A ground out ended the inning for IU. Grant Holderfield has replaced Tucker. Holderfield is the third freshman on the mound today for IU, in another thank you for getting to play midweek games this season.

Miami opened the 7th with two walks sandwiched around a fielder's choice, putting Men on 1st and 2nd with one out. Holderfield then got two Ks to end the top half of the inning with no damage done. IU batting in the B7th.

In IU's half of the 7th, Jessie who pinched hit for Fougerousse with two outs and a man on, was credited with a triple when the left fielder lost track of the ball and it landed near him scoring Mathison who had walked earlier. Then a single by Doanes scored Jessie to make it 13-2 closing out the inning. All IU hitters that have played up to this point have at least one hit in the game with the exception of Mathison and he has three walks. In the T8th, Holderfield got a ground out and two Ks to end the Miami half of the 8th.

In IU's half of the 8th, Sam Murrison and Tucker Shank who both entered the game, singled to start the inning off, and Colopy walked to load the bases with no outs. IU then scored two runs on fielder's choices to make it 15-2. Mathison then popped up to the SS to end the inning. Bradley Brehmer closed out the 9th for IU by striking out the side. IU gave up just 4 hits and 2 earned runs with 16 Ks and 8 walks on the day. Hayden got the win as four pitchers went two innings each with Brehmer pitching the 9th.
