Mental toughness

You are correct. There were spurts like that. I guess my concern has to do more with being completely out of it at the start of the game. I don't quite understand how a team is that mentally unprepared.
Crimson Crush, I’m not sure what angle you are trying to work here. Yes, Archie has better talent than when Crean came in, but this class of seniors were never taught to play disciplined basketball. They are being asked to play defense, drive the lane, and work within the offense to get better shot selections. This is nearly the opposite priorities than Crean’s emphasis on taking the first available shot without interest in defense. It looks like Juwan, De’Ron, and the freshman have bought into playing the right way. We will be better next year, but I will give Archie a season without expectations of making the tournament considering the amount of work he has to do to retrain current players and bring new guys up to speed. Next year we have an eight cede tournament team. Chill dog.

I see no one who really sprinted back defensively yesterday. They all jog back. RJ lost the ball out top and was the last one back which is inexcusable. The commitment and desire to win is not something everyone has which is why Indiana players are so coveted growing up in a basketball is about winning environment.

What if the lane was packed with five players, the post triple teamed, and a person made a back door cut to the basket and was wide open? What then?

When its proved thats going to be the case then ill change my tune.
This game wasnt even close to that, & thats still after seeing many times the post being doubled...

I did not think today ha anything to do with not playing hard. They got down early and fought back to cut it to 39-34 and if they were not playing hard that would never had happened.

That wasnt due from playing any harder, they (Iu) got lucky. Michigan started launching 3 balls like they were at a all expemse paid Chucky cheese bball machine, difference was they started completely missing them. At one point I think Mich took four 3s in a row on 4 new possessions and missed everyone of them

Or Newkirk allowing 6'11" Wagner to steal the ball at the top of the key. I threw a foam brick at the tv after that one. ha

Ohhh & btw guess what we started doing. Driving inside... Hmm ya dont say

No. I won't be posting that after every game. I posted a couple extra times to make sure that the dense posters like you understood this. Of course, in your world, Archie has till 2024 to get the team built because he gets a free pass working with his roster made up of kids pulled off the upstairs courts at the HPER building.
dumb

Riveting commentary as always.

Keep dribbling. Something good may happen. Well, sometimes. Maybe.

It blows my mind just how bad Johnson has been this year. I just can't believe a 4 year starter can play with such a lack of effort and leadership on the floor. 3 key turnovers yesterday and 1 where he was trying to go 1 on 5. I wasn't expecting him to be Yogi Ferrell offensively but the turnovers and just looking scared out there for a senior especially one that was good as a freshman and sophmore, it just makes no sense.

I just think with Newkirk, Johnson and, to a lesser extent, Green, there has been too much leeway given, too much excuse making, too much inconsistency, and too little direction over the past few years.....they are all somewhat psycho as basketball players.....you never know what they're going to do. Playing great at home against a very good team and then going on the road and stinking the place up? Par for the course. Good luck with these guys Archie.

I honestly would have no problem with Green getting more of his minutes. He makes a lot of mistakes but at the very least you can tell he cares and isn't afraid of the moment. Sometimes it's better to have some spectacular plays even if it leads to an occasional turnover. It beats the hell out of watch Newkirk and Johnson play hot potato with ball for 25 sec out on the perimeter because they are both scared to either shoot or drive the lane.
