BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Wednesday marked the first official practice for the Indiana men's soccer team, as they enter the 2015 season ranked No. 14 in the NSCAA preseason poll. Head coach Todd Yeagley is in his sixth season leading the Hoosiers and returns 19 players from a year ago, including 13 letterwinners.

Among those returning letterwinners is the top goal scorer from the 2014 season, junior midfielder Tanner Thompson. After earning All-American honors as a sophomore, Thompson has been named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List entering 2015. He scored six goals and added three assists for a total of 15 points last year and will anchor the central midfield once again.

Also returning is senior Femi Hollinger-Janzen, a forward/midfielder from Goshen, Ind., who scored five goals last year and earned First Team All-Big Ten Honors as well as Second Team All-Midwest Region accolades.

Sophomore Grant Lillard, a center back, also returns after scoring five goals in his freshman season, using his 6-foot 4 frame to his advantage as a defender and on the attack in his debut season.

In goal, junior Colin Webb will be looked upon for leadership after a strong sophomore campaign that saw him post a 0.96 goals against average and 70 saves while playing every minute of all 22 games.

The incoming freshman class features nine new student-athletes from across the country and England. In addition, a pair of transfers join the mix from the start and look to impact the team in goal and on the attack.

Indiana will play its first exhibition game on Monday, Aug. 17 against Valparaiso with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m. ET at Bill Armstrong Stadium. A second exhibition game will take place on Aug. 20 at Armstrong Stadium against Western Michigan before IU travels to Fort Wayne for its final exhibition game against Marquette as part of the Shindigz Soccer Festival.

The regular season will get underway on Friday, Aug. 28 at 8:00 p.m. against St. John's as part of the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic.

Tickets are $5 for adults and youth (ages 3-18) are $3 and can be purchased at the gate or in advance by visiting IUHoosiers.com.
