He is likely to be the best QB IU has had for a long time. He will feel like he is on vacation behind IU's OL this coming year.
I have a feeling he will only be here for one year but that is a good thing. He could be a top 10 pick.

After watching some of the videos of Mendoza I am not sure he isn't the #1 QB. Mendoza had many passing plays while dealing with a defensive player that is in contact trying to tackle him. He still was accurate with the pass and IU fans will be happy how good he makes the team look.

It could be great for recruiting his replacement to have C1G at the draft all over the television.

Just like the preseason last year, the pundits have no belief in the IU QB position. Rourke was not highly regarded on many lists and the same is true with Mendoza this preseason. He’s listed anywhere from #10-14 in the conference on several lists.
Which is good. Plays right into the mentality that Cig teams incorporate.

At some point, we have to promote more from within, I agree with his little brother being next (if capable). The high school recruits have to believe they will be groomed to eventually get playing time. Fine line between that and you always go and get the best. I guess I am just throwing out word salad today 🙃

I second the (e)motion that it is great to argue is our QB #1 or #2 in the country and also remember all the hype BCC only to fall flat. Very ready for season to begin and cash ticket for the over on 8.5 wins this season

At the rate of departures in the NIL era, freshman classes almost don’t seem to have much importance anymore. You could sign the top high school class and by the next year, half of them transfer if they get no playing time or they start shopping NIL deals.
Right, as Indiana's incoming recruits improve per our opponents, we'll see the coaches utilizing more of the freshmen & RS freshmen.
Ya know - last year was the first time I can remember never being overly concerned about “3rd and long”. Seems we converted more than we didn’t. That was a great feeling, and I hope Mendoza delivers it again.
Same here. Being confident was a whole new thing.
I wonder about the severity of Cherry’s injury and the future for him. He’s basically now a grey shirt medical. He could stick around or wind up elsewhere if this thing puts him behind so many guys.
My only concern is what happens if he goes down.

I just hope these preseason hypes don't go to his head... The key to our entire season will be the work he puts in and the leadership he shows during Summer workouts...
The same can be said with IU defense holding the opposition on 3rd and long. We are so damn use to seeing 3rd and forever become successful drives against us.
At the end of the day it's awesome we've got a QB where we can be excited about his serious upside potential. Just amazing work to land him in the portal.

Totally agree on this!!! No idea if there’s a stat out there over the last 30 years such as: Most 3rd/8+ yards given up for first downs by the D? With no official numbers to look at, I believe we IU fans know who held this dubious distinction!!!
With these coaches developing IU will be beast in the B1G and getting better every year.
