McRoberts/Fitzner

I don't know why everyone gets so caught up on McRoberts not taking a shot. The guys is a walk-on coming back from a back injury. If he had a scoring role on this team it would be as a spot up shooter and I'm guessing his back issues are making him feel like he can't shoot comfortably. I'd love it if he didn't play a minute for us, because that would mean we had better options, but right now we don't and he generally doesn't hurt us with TO's, is a good defender and hustle guy. With DG as our starting PG, he is a stabilizing presence on O and knows what the hell is going on on D. I know I don't start screaming "No, no, no" at the TV if he starts to drive as I do with Smith and I don't see him falling asleep on back cuts and in help situations, so that alone tells me something and makes me question our scholarship players out there much more than ZM.
agreed on our 'options' at the moment. I'm just thinking about it from my experiences..if I know the guy I'm guarding isn't going to drive on me, not going to post me up, probably look to pass immediately and not line up a 3 if I sag off of him, then i'm going to sag off of him, and cheat towards JM or Romeo if they are on my side of the court. It's disappointing...the first several games it looked like both Mcrob and Fitz were going to be reliable shooters from outside and cause the defense to stretch.
Would have been a different game on Sunday if Davis could have played 20 minutes. We can't expect Romeo and Juwan to combine for 45-50 points every game. We need more scoring from someone.

Trust me, I want McRoberts to take open shots... I'd almost insist on it if I was Coach, at least against lesser opponents, but I think it's pretty easy to guess what's going on. And, I don't understand people who say he shouldn't be playing. With his hustle and defensive effort alone he brings something this team is sorely lacking, let alone that he is generally a reliable ball handler on the floor. I mean our Coach sees value in his play obviously and his teammates voted him a Captain, so they trust him... and yet posters on here don't understand why he plays?

If Mcrob had his heart and head...and the natural 'abilities' of a Justin Smith....yikes.
He did show early this year he could hit these shots. He actually had good form, footwork. The shot is there.
More than anything, this team needs Rob P back, and Davis. So much is riding on Morgan's back every game. Even more than Romeo.

McRoberts should not be playing any minutes over anybody sure he hustles but I would love to see freshman get a chance to play sure mistakes happen but it will only make them stronger same old story with coaches always playing the vets over the rookies.

I’ll clue you in. He hasn’t scored a single point the past 7 games. He has one of the highest turnover percentages on the team. He is an offensive liability, and isn’t a good shooter. Also, over the past month and half he has struggled on the defensive end (I assume he is playing hurt), as well. Several times a game people blow right by him for lay ups.

I do understand why he is playing. We don’t have that many healthy players. He plays hard, is an upperclassmen, and is a likable kid. With all that said he has hurt IU the past month or so. I’d like to see Anderson get some time and go with whoever is playing better.

Amen...makes you wonder how many people on this board actually could play ball growing up. My goodness McRoberts is a complete liability. Every time he saves a ball from going out of bounds people wanna pretend like he's a hero. My boggling analysis. Anderson needs to play some at least.

Actually not listening to Dakich. Been wondering for several years why McRoberts gets playing time. Just thought I would look at the box score this morning. Not much three.

Michigan has better players than IU. IU needs better players 1-8 at least to compete on national level. Getting closer but still not there.
Been wondering the same thing

We play a complicated defense and one based on every person being where they need to be. If one person breaks down or is out of position constantly, then the defense breaks down. Look at the beginning of last year for great examples of this or anytime Anderson has played this year.

Anderson isn't ready (though he has been improving) and he only played because we needed bodies at the perimeter positions.

With all your self professed playing expertise and experience this shouldn't really need to be explained to you, unless of course you're just FOS. McBob is playing poorly, of that there is no doubt and as been since he came back from injury but Anderson sure in the hell is not the answer.

This isn't EA sports ..

I would love to have Hunter playing, but he isn't. I like Forrester, but he is hurt and Archie doesn't feel he is ready. I haven't seen Moore do anything that warrants more time. Archie sees these players everyday. e knows a lot more about this team and coaching than anyone here. Let's allow him to decide who is ready.

Too many people con't realize every player is banged up, sore and tired. Some more than others. Add in that they are in college and have other things they have to prepare. People must have never played a sport or been close to someone that has.

If a player has a bad game, you aren't going to hear them say they have a nagging injury and aren't as explosive as they want to be. I wouldn't be surprised if McBob's struggles are because he dove or extended himself one time too many and is feeling the punishment he has put on his body over 5 years. For that effort, he gets idiots saying he shouldn't be playing
